Rev. Dr. Robert H. Arm- strong conducted a special service Sunday morning at St. Andrew's Presbyterian when he welcomed, on behalf of his congregation, new members. Joining the church on profession of faith were Joan Arbuckle, Scott Cornwall, John Henderson, Brian McKague, Susan Nixon, Pam Reid and Marlene Taylor. Accepted into the church fellowship by transfer of certificate or reaffirmation of faith were Miss Gertrude Aitchison, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Elston, Mrs. Lucinda Henderson and Mrs. Brian McKague. The new members will receive assurance and guidance at a special preparatory service Thursday evening and will partake of their first communion as members on Sunday as the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper is observed. President Fred Thuell con- ducted the business part of the meeting assisted by secretary Mrs. Gertrude Bolger. The meeting opened with all 'singing '0 Canada', ac- companied by Mrs. Verna Thomas at . the piano. Programs are shortened at this time of year as a nul'nber of the members commute from Walton, Cranbrook and surrounding community. Most of the afternoon was spent playing euchre with one table playing Chinese checkers. A Wingham housewife advised us last week she had purchased fish from some people making the rounds in a black truck, and upon thawing it found it was rotten. The town Berk reported no peddling licences have been issued . recently, although a li4ence is not required If a person is selling his own product. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday afternoon, March 19. Each member is to bring a guest who qualifies as a senior citizen. The meeting closed with lunch prepared and served by the lunch com- mittee. Belmore Mr. and Mrs. Clark Renwick observed their 58th wedding anniversary on February 15. Mrs. Isabelle Edwards spent several days last week visiting Mrs. Clark Renwick. A valentine dance was held February 16 at the Belmore Arena ->Music was by Revised Edition. The McIntosh-Belmere-' Mildmay Hi -C held their toboggan party on February 16 at the home off Marilyn and Heather Renwick. Local residents congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Brian Deyell who recently became parents of a baby boy. George Inglis is presently in the Wingham and District Hospital. Georgina MacNiel of Cape Breton Island is spending several days with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Renwick and family. She also spoke on the question of loyalty. Mrs. William A. Smith opened her home for the meeting which wa'` held Wednesday evenin. last week Mrs. N i n, cting president, began with a call to worship and the singing of a hymn. The business was then conducted, with Mrs. Gordon Moir reading the minutes and calling the roll which was answered by a verse con- taining the word 'mercy'. Visitations were also noted. Mrs. Smith received the of- fering which was dedicated by Mrs. Neilson. Mrs. Neilson closed the meeting with prayer and the singing of a hymn. A social half hour followed.
