The graup ova§ headed up by Lorrie Perry, Donna Thompson and•Allaiie Johnston, who also formed part of the singing STOUP which opened the eve:0% entertainment. The evening demonstrated the remarkable range of talent in the Bluevale area including pianO,: clarinet and classical guitar solos, Ural East' step danciag and the Highland Fling, baton twirling+ and singing solos and duets. One of the highlights of the concert was the performance by the Turnberry Senior Ukelele Band under the direc- tion of Hugh &maroon. The crowd also enjoyed the piano offerings of Paul Elgie, which included some of his own compositions. Bob Fraser, who was master of ceremonies for the firste h of the program, ee humorous poem abo the of a farmer. At the halfwa point Bob Perry took over as emcee and at this time the winning ticket for the current 50-50 draw was drawn by Tracy. Jarvis. The happy and surprised winner was Larry Zinn froth Wingham. The proceeds from the variety concert totalled $368, all of which went to the fund for renovating the Community Hall. 4111 LAKELET MACRAME MAIDS The third meeting was held Monday evening of last week at the home of Mrs. Marie Schmidt. " The leaders discussed the size of the girls' bedrooms and how the rooms are decorated and used. The girls decided on a free - choice accessory. FORDWICH CLIJII Mrs. D'Arcey hosted the first meeting at which eight members repeated the 4-H Pledge and were introduced to the new project, 'Your Corner of the World'. The girls chose their officers, naming Shirley Versteeg president, Sharon Borg vice president; and the girls sharing the, positions of secretary and press reporter. Mrs. D'Arcey and Mrs. Shelley, the leaders, told the girls what macrame each member must complete during the course. They also explained three different macrame knots. The next meeting will be held February 27 at the home of Mrs. Shelley. HUMPY CAMEL—Terry Harkness, Terrence Allen, Stephen Sklnn, Doug Cerson, Tara Parker, Mary Smits and Karen Schwichtenberg combined to build a camel for Sacred Heart School's snow sculpture contest. The result was sturdy enough for several of them to ride on, though it didn't travel very fast or very far. Dr. Robert H. Armstrong in charge. The meeting opened with scripture and prayer. Mrs. Alba Mundell was ap- pointed secretary and read the minutes of the previous• meetings. The session report showed 123 members on the roll, four new members received and six removed. The Board of Managers reported a good response to its appeal for donations. The Sunday School is quite active and -reptirted- having donated $200 to the Ladies' Aid to paint the Sunday School room. Pot luck lunc eon precedes WI meet The Wingham branch of the Women's Institute held its February 21st meeting preceded by a pot luck lun- cheon in the council chamber. After a bountiful luncheon for 20 members and three visitors in attendance, the roll call was answered by each member naming a town beginning with her first initial. • In the business period it was decided to give a donation to the Rehabilitation Stroke Fund. A nominating com- mittee was formed to bring in a slate of officers for 1980-81. Members are Mrs. Alma Jardine, Mrs. Hazel Hardie and Miss Myrtle Johnson. A beautiful quilt top made by Mrs. Graham was on display. This will be quilted and tickets will be sold for it. The executive committee Was in charge of a few games of bingo. Members com- mented on the enjoyable day spent as guests of the Corrie WI last week at a dessert euchre. Court Whist was also MRS. DERRILI HALLMAN Lakelet Sympathy is extended to Albert Dettman and family in the loss of a wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs -Dettman. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Reidt spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mason near Teeswater. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Datirns of Mildmay visited Sunday at the Reidt home. Lakelet Jets and Clifford played to a 6-6 tie on Tuesday but the Jets defeated Kurtz- ville 4-3 during the previous week. They will start the playoffs this coming week.
