Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clement on the arrival of their first great grandson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Isabelle Jr., in Ed- monton, Alberta. Mrs. Stewart Rowley, president, opened.the meeting with prayers after which she thanked the hostess for opening her home and welcomed everyone to the meeting. Mrs. Orrance Laramie read the scripture lesson and roll call was answered by 20 members saying what they hope to do this summer. An invitation had been sent from the Anglican Church in Listowel to attend a tea but because of slow mail service no One was able to attend. Plans were made for the World Day of Prayer service to be' held in the Anglican Church on Friday, March 7, at 2 p.m. with Fordwich United and Brethren in Christ churches, and Kurtzville United joining the Trinity congregation, A Music Night is being planned with the date to beset later. The group will cater to a banquet in May and one in September and will visit the Fordwich Village Nursing Home on March 17 at 2 p.m. The 53rd weekend will be held at Huron College, London, on June 6, 7 and 8. Malcolm Bennett, president of the London -Middlesex sponsoring club; Albert (AB) Flood, governor of Ontario District; Paul Gorman, field. representative for Optimist International, and JIM Nother, Ontario District new club building chairman. Qptifliist Club gets charter A new service club,- the Optimist Club of Wingham District, was officially organized last Saturday. The club is affiliated with Optimist International, an association of more than 3,406 service clubs in the United States, Canada and Mexico with a total membership of more than 124,000 men. Operating under the slogan, 'Friend of Youth', the clubs conduct a wide variety of youth activities and service projects in their communities. Rick Whiteley is president of the new club, which was sponsored by the Optimist Club of Middlesex -London.
