ficially organized last Saturday morning. Rick Whiteley (centre); is

Wingham and District Optimist Club consists of (back) Jerry Chomyn, Norman Rude
and` Brian Hogg, and (front) Harper English, Bob Foxton and Harold Johnston. Mr.

FORDWICH — Mrs. Don
King welcomed fellow
members to her home for the
February meeting of Trinity,
Anglican Church Women.
Mrs. Stewart Rowley,
president, opened.the meeting
with prayers after which she
thanked the hostess for
opening her home and
welcomed everyone to the
meeting.
Mrs. Orrance Laramie read
the scripture lesson and roll
call was answered by 20
members saying what they
hope to do this summer. An
invitation had been sent from
the Anglican Church in
Listowel to attend a tea but
because of slow mail service
no One was able to attend.
Plans were made for the
World Day of Prayer service
to be' held in the Anglican
Church on Friday, March 7, at
2 p.m. with Fordwich United
and Brethren in Christ
churches, and Kurtzville
United joining the Trinity
congregation, A Music Night
is being planned with the date
to beset later.
The group will cater to a
banquet in May and one in
September and will visit the
Fordwich Village Nursing
Home on March 17 at 2 p.m.
The 53rd weekend will be held
at Huron College, London, on
June 6, 7 and 8.

Mrs. Bruce Armstrong con-
ducted two contests and lunch
was served by Mrs. Daunt and

District new club building chairman.
Qptifliist Club gets charter
A new service club,- the
Optimist Club of Wingham
District, was officially
organized last Saturday.
The club is affiliated with
Optimist International, an
association of more than 3,406
service clubs in the United
States, Canada and Mexico
with a total membership of
more than 124,000 men.
Operating under the slogan,
'Friend of Youth', the clubs
conduct a wide variety of
youth activities and service
projects in their communities.
Rick Whiteley is president
of the new club, which was
sponsored by the Optimist
Club of Middlesex -London.
The club is currently setting
up its coppimittees and plans
are being made for a charter
presentation banquet at which
Governor Ab Flood of Ontario
District will officially install
the officers and induct . all
charter members-
