If you live in an urban area, your name
must be on the final list of voters in order to
cast a ballot: But if you are a rural voter, you
may.vote (even if your name is not on the list)
provided you are -vouched for by another
elector whose name is on the voters!' list of
your • polling division. Generally, a polling
divisien is considered rural if it is in a locality
of fewer than 5,000 people.
TURNBERRY TOWNSHIP
—Polling division 124 includes all lots west
of Highway 4 and west of the Town of
Winghoul to the township boundary. The
polling statien will be at Art Stokes residence
RR 2, Wingham.

increased in March of 199,
when they climbed 25 per cent
to $2.20 from $1.75. Water
rates -went up at the same time
to $5.60 per month from $4.50.
Rates were previously in-
creased by about -the same
percentage in January of 1977.

Firefighters
help battle
barn blaze
..Three members of the
Wingham fire department
took the tanker to help Blyth
firemen battle a barn fire
along Con. 8 of Morris
Township early Monday.
Fire Chief Dave Crothers
reported that the barn,
belonging to Murray Siert-
sema, was saved, with only a
section of the top lost, and the
farmer was able to milk his
cows in it Monday night.
Optimists
elect club
executive
' The Optimists Club which is
being formed in Wingham and
district has signed up the 35
members required fer a
charter and last weekend held
elections for its charter
executive.
Rid: Whiteley will be the
club president, with Wayne
itregar and lain Trainor as
vice presidents. Harper
English and Jerry Chomyn
were elected to two-year
terms as directors and Brian
Hogg and- Bob FoXton to one-
year terms. Harold Johnson
will be club secretary, with
Norm Rude as treasurer.
The official chartering

service from Ma Bell because
of the strikes, the -pot -offie
has been getting 'Off lucky.
This week, however,
Wingham resident received an
after-ChriStmaS note from her
neighbor down the street. It
was postmarked in Wingham
on January 16.
The same day, that resident
also received a note post-
marked January 28 in New
Delhi, India. ' •

New businesses
for Wingham
VVingham residents are now
able to benefit from a new
business in town, Filmspeed.
The small shop, in half of the
Lamp Lighter's old location,
opened for business last
Thursday.
Owned by Larry Wright, it is
part of a London-based chain.
Store locations include Lon-
don, Exeter and Sarnia and
plans are underway to open
another outlet in Listowel.
John Read is manager for all
the stores.
Just next door to Filmspeed
will be a pizza restaurant,
Pizza Wain. Owned by John
Mackiegan of Clinton, it
should open its doors in three
to four weeks. It is reported to
be the largest pizza restaurant
chain in Huron ,County with
four locations in Exeter,
Oiaten nnd, noon,
Witigham.
If you don't want pizza you
will be able to visit a barbeqUe
restaurant which promises to
open soon under new
management. It will be
located at 257 Josephine •
Street.
