Brookhaven, has. been busy
this month: On Jan. 8 Capt.
and Mrs. Ian Trainor
presented her with a Life
Membership Certificate to the
Home. League in Wingham in
recognition of her many years
of service to the league. Mrs.
Baker started this service
organization here 63 years
ago. Members make articles
to be sold in the fall bazaar,'
which helps support the
Salvation Army gift
distribution projects at
Christmas time. Mrs. Baker is
the oldest 'living . member of
the league in Canada. She` is
proud of this award of
recognition and said she,

interest at the annual meeting
of the Wingham United
Church was the burning of the
mortgage which had'been
placed upon the church at the
time of building the hew ad-
dition 15 years ago.
At a recent meeting of the
Pub1i' School Board it was

deci d to install • a new
heatin system at a cost of
$3,590•. The contract was let to
Machan Bros. A new chimney
will also beabuilt at a cost of
$1,009.28.
Mrs. George Ross was re-
elected president when the
22nd annual meeting of the
Wingham Horticultural
Society was held. Other of-
ficers include Mrs. E. Snell,
Mrs. T. Kew, Mrs. E, Nash
and W. A Galbraith.

Andrew's Presbyterian
to extend a call

William J. Plenty, veteran
publisher, whose father
founded The Wingham Ad-
vance, died at his home in his
91st year..
Two new members, W. O.
Struthers and Don Goodridge,
were initiated into the
Wingham Lions. . Club at its
regular meeting.
,Second Lieut. A. N. Mar-
shall of the Salvation Army
has received word of his ap-
pointment to the Crowlarld
Outpost of the Welland
Command and will be leaving

The third observance of
Minor Hockey in Canada was
held' in the Wingham Arena
with five local teams playing
visiting. squads from Detroit
and Hanover. More than 500
fans witnessed- the ' day's
activities.
