double. Jeremy Cameron bowled

The Wingham Lions and
Durham Midgets met last week
in a best -of -three OMHA playoff
series, but it turned out three
games weren't enough,to pick a
winner between these evenly
matched teams.
The first game in Durham
ended in a 5-5 tie after 10 minutes
of overtime. Goals by Daryl
Holmes and Bill Brophy in the
final minute of the game tied the
score at 4-4 and sent the game
into. overtime.
Steve Reay scored midway
through the extra period to give
Durham a 5-4 Lead and then, with
just over three minutes left,
Dickie Moore pounced on ' a
rebound to tie the score. Pete
Goodall and Dave Nesbitt were
the other goal scorers for
Wingham. Ken Beichert played a

mixed bonspiel
BELMORE-A mixed bonspiel
was held at the Belmore Arena on
Saturday with local and area
"rinks competing for top honors.
Winners of the nine o'clock
draw were Peter Inglis, Patti
Brenzil, Ralph and Debb}le
Metcalfe; second, Brian and
Janet Marston, Grace Mulvey,
Ray Walker; third, Jim and Lana
McKague, John and Janice
Murray.
The 11 o'clock draw was won by
Bdb and Helen McKague; -Red
and .lean McDonald. Second
prize went to Mac and Mary
Eadie, George and Berdella
Kieffer, third to Murray and
Shirley McKague, Keith Elston
and friend.
The Belmore hockey teams
were also busy competing Iast
week. The Tykes defeated
Wallace 5-0. The, Squirts played
Belgrave to a 6 -all tie but lost to
Kurtzville 4-3. The PeeWees lost
6-4 to Clifford and the Bantams
lost a close 4-3 game to Belgrave.
The Midgets wiped out Clifford
11-0 and the Intermediate Girls
downed Durham 12-1.

Thursday in' Wingham
Goodall's goal with a minute and
twenty seconds, left in the game
gave the Lions a 4-3 win and a
strangle -hold on the series. Once
again Deichert gave the Lions
clutch , goaltending, keeping
Wingham close throughout the
game.
Paul Montgomery is playing
his best hockey of the year on
defence, blocking shots and
dishing out some . solid checks.
Dave Nesbitt, Danny Martin and
Bill Brophy also scored for
Wingham, with Brophy's goal on
a penalty shot tying the score at
three.
In the third game Sunday
Durham's Doug Bell came up hot
in goal as the Lions carried the
play for two periods but came out
tied 2-2. Penalties hurt the team
in the third and Durham scored
two powerplay goals in the first
four minutes, coasting to a,, 6-3
win to tie the series at three
points each. Martin, Goodall and
Brophy scored for the Lions.
The two teams played the
deciding game Tuesday in
Durham, with the winner going
on to meet Wiarton or
Southampton in the next round.

hosts bonspiel
A bonspiel was held Jan. 26 at
the Howick Community Centre.
First place in the nine o'clock
draw went to Jack Reid's team,
with three wins and a plus of 13.
Second was Don Aiken with a
pair of wins and a plus of 12. Bob
Hastie's rink was third with two
wins and a plus of 10, while fourth
went to Lawson Doig with two
wins and a plus of seven and an
aggregate of 24. Close behind was
Jim Wylie with two wins, a plus
of seven and an aggregate of 19.
The consolation went to Don
Henry's rink.
In the 11 o'clock draw first
place went to Jim Schefter's rink
with three wins and a plus of 12.
Don Weber came in second with
two wins, a plus of 12 and an
aggregate of 31. The third place
team was Ron Kieffer's with two_..
wins, a plus of 12 and an
aggregate of. 26. The team ,of
Dave Dinsmore was fourth With a
pair of wins and a plus of nine.
Del Graham „came in fifth with
two wins and his plus was seven.
Consolation was given to Dewey
Adam's rink.
