They'd like to share them with you. pURCLASS -•-•;9'''''THORN TREE One day when our class came into the room, we saw a little thorn tree. Everybody wondered what it was for. Then our teacher said it was a magic tree and everyone wanted to find out what the magic thorn tree did_ That afternoon our teacher asked us to write a story or legend of how the thorn tree became magic. On Wednesday, Dec. 19, when we came in from recess we found out' why it was a magic thorn tree. It had sprouted gumdrops. —Brad Baumgarten THE MAGIC TREE Once long, long ago there lived a man who lived all alone. He was very unhappy because no one liked him. He wastto unhappy he cried. One day he gave all the animals in the forest something to eat, but it still didn't work. He began to give up hope but then right before his eyes was an angel ! He was so surprised he fell to the ground! The angel said to go to the forest and get a thorn tree. When he came back the angel said to talk to the tree nicely. When he finished talking to the tree the tree talked back to him. He knew he had found a friend at last. —Tasha VanAnkum MRS. WILLIAM SOTHERN Fordwich • THE MAGIC THORN TREE Once upon a time there was a thorn tree that was magic. It stood by the forest all day long. It had beautiful leaves. One day an ill bird came flying by the forest. He asked the tree if he could settle in his branches and the tree said yes. Thebird just didn't need to stay on the tree. He needed a home. The tree knew of this so he changed himself into a bird- house. The bird lived in the bird- house for 3 weeks. December was coming up and the bird was not strong enough to fly south but the tree found out how to get the bird south. He turned himself into ,a bigger bird. The bird hopped on the tree's back and they flew south. It took them two days to get there. When they got there the bird thanked the tree and the tree said bye and flew home. When he got home he had an un- happy surprise. He lost his leaves. He forgot that you can only change into something for two weeks, and that's why our tree doesn't have leaves. —Jeff Douglas THE MAGIC THORN TREE . There was a thorn tree in Bethlehem beside the stable , where Jesus was born. The stars were twinkling in the sky and suddenly some stars fell on the thorn tree. The stars were still twinkling when the sun came out, When the people of Bethlehem saw the tree they ran out and put presents on the tree for the baby Jesus. And now everybody in the town of Bethlehem puts a present on the thorn tree as there ances: tors did • foe the baby Jesus. This is how the thorn tree became a magic thorn tree for the baby Jesus. • —Margaret Versteeg THE MAGIC • - THORN TREE Once upon a time there was a very sad thorn tree.
