The Win: ham Advance -Times, November 15, 197$ Job training Nolikisnimi program gets good support The 1978-79 version of the Job Exerience Training Program (J.E.T.) was launched across Canada Sept. '15 by the minister of employment and immigration. Since that date the local Canada Employment Centre (formerly Canada Manpower Centre) has actively promoted the program and has endeavoured to acquaint employers with the elements of this year's job creation scheme. Unlike last year, the program has been well received and numerous employers have ex- pressed interest in participating. The program is designed to create jobs for young people be- tween 16 and 24 years of age who have been out of the school system from 3 to 36 months. It provides the employer with a 50 per cent wage subsidy and provides workers with badly needed experience on the labor market. One new feature this year is the writing of all con- tracts for 26 week periods. The final deadline for contract sub- missions is March 31, 1979. Weekly pre-employment orientation sessions are taking place in the Listowel office to prepare young people for referral to employers. The counsellors in the CEC are anxious to explain all the pertinent features of the program to prospective em- ployers and workers. Mrs. Mary Ellen Ball has been appointed JET co-ordinator for this area by Manager John Chippa. In the near future all em- ployers in the area will be -mailed pamphlets explaining the pro- gram and further news releases will continue to acquaint the pub- lic of progress being 'made. is INCOME PROPERTY Centrally located,' *1 . tractive 3 bedroom; fir, NI well insulated home."' in New hot water heating '. system.
