HALLOWE'EN PARTY—There was a big Hallowe'en party
at the Wingham Day Care Centre last week as all the chil-
dren dressed
hil-dren-dressed up in scary or unusual costumes for the day.
This hideous group is made up of (not in order) Stephen

by November 13. The UCW will
also sponsor two girls to attend
the Toe Alpha conference during
the Christmas holidays.

FORDWICH — With Hal-
lowe'en stili fresh in their minds,
the Senior Citizens met Wed-
nesday evening of last week,
using the day of ghosts and gob-
lins as their meeting theme. A
large number of members at-
tended and answered the roll call
by confessing to a Hallowe'en
prank in which they participated.
During the business of the

motion to co-operate with a group
planning help and travel for
seniors in Huron_ "Happy
Birth-
day" was sung to one mems
and a thank you card was read
from Mrs. Florence riel on, ex-
pressing gratitude for a .get -well
card sent to her while a patient in
hospital.
A public card party will be held

are confined to hospitals, Mrs.
Sam Johnstori in Wingham and
Jim Hadley and Abe Haasnoot
both in Listowel.
Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Gibson of
Listowel visited Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Wellington Hargrave.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stewart
accompanied Mrs. Les Edmunds
to Toronto International Airport
on Thursday when she returned
to ler home in Vancouver. Mrs.
Edmunds had visited with her
parents. Mr. and Mrs_ Oliver Ste-
wart. and other relatives here.
She also attended the Stmeart-
Route wedding m Oshawa.
Mr. and Mrs. Fier Miller and
Grant spent Sunday in Toronto.
Grant remained for a few days.

Mrs. Moore read an article
from The Observer entitled
"Laying The Blame on the Fire".
She also read 'The Six Steps of
Relea=se" from "Mandate" and
led in prayer.
Mrs. Durnin and Mrs. Moot e
then read portions from "Man-
date" concerning Rhodesia and
the problems there. Mrs. Moore
also gave information on various
islands in the Caribbean and con-
ducted a geography lesson on
South America. She divided .the
group into two parts and all were
to name the countries of South
America and give information
about the various countries.
Another quiz tested the ladies'
knowledge about the capitals of
these countries.
The -roll call was answered by
ten • members. Mrs. Thompson
closed the meeting with prayer
and the travelling basket was
passed.

The group is eight years old,
formed in 1970 and enjoying a
fantastic rise in popularity since
its baby days. In 1977 `it was
selected for a tour of the People's
Republic of China as part of an
official cultural exchange be-
tween Canada and China Duriug
197748, the group gave 200 per-
formances around the world, in-
cluding concerts in Paris, Lon-
dpm, Venice, Bonn and many
major North American Cities, a
tour of the Soviet Union and per-
formances in Hawaii and Cap-
' ada's northland
On May 3l of this year, Cana-
dian Brass opened on Broadway
in a comedy western opera en-
titled "Hornsmoke"; and in Sept-
ember, they performed during
the ground -breaking c ereaaonyoat
the site of the new Massey Hall in
Toronto. Future engagements in-
clude a show in the old Massey
Tail, a c op ert in New York, -an
appearance on "Sesame Street"
and a coast-to-coast tour of both
Canada and the United States -

Frederic Mills (trumpet) ,
Graeme Page (French horn),
Ronald Roma (trumpet) and
Eugene Watts (trombone). AU

musicians and have experience
with various symphony or-
chestras in Canada and the U.S.

WHITECHURCH — The 4-11
girls held a party in the Com-
munity Memorial Hall with their
invited guests members of the
executive of the Women's Instit-
ute. the .club president, Janet
Laidlaw, opened the meeting and
was pianist for the opening

An orchestra comprised of
Janet Laidlaw (clarinet), Karen
Young (trombone), Caryn Nicol-
son ( trumpet) and Sandra Irwin
on drums played "Joy to the
World" and 'The William Tell
Overture". Mary Moore gave a
reading, "The Old Pantry", and
true,and false contest on cook-
ing 'was. eonettete;d thetpliori,
-Jamieson: Kendra nerd& gave
"A Kitchen Poem".
Janet Laidlaw and Vickie Scott
sang "Seek and Ye Shall Find",
accompanied by pianist Mrs.
Garnet Farrier. Faye Irwin gave
a reading, "The Recipe", and
Lorie Purdon conducted a true
and false contest on facts about 4-
H. Janet Laidlaw played a piano
solo, "Woe Only Just Begun".
Janet then gave the courtesy
remarks on behalf of the 4-H
dub Miss Merle Wilson, presi-
dent of the Institute, thanked the
girls for enertaining the WI of-
ficers and after the 4-11 Grace
was Shing, a tasty dinner was
served to about 24. The dinner
demonstrated that the girls had
learned many things during their
rel ent course.
Canadian Brass will perform
two shows for the Blyth Centre
for the Arts. The first begins at 1
p.m. and is a performance for
students from the surrounding
region. Adult tickets may also be
obtained for that show: The even-
ing performance begins at 8,
