Fortner Wingham resident
dies in Victoria Hospital!
Passed away in Victoria
Hospital, London, on December
14, Alice Elizabeth Ziegler, be-
loved wife off Edward Ziegler of
Kitchener. Mrs. Ziegler was the
former Alice Williamson of Wing-
ham;daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. W. Williamson. She attend-
ed the local schools and London
Teachers' College. Upon gradua-
tion she taught for two years in
Worthington, near Sudbury. She
then taught kindergarten in
Kitchener schools until her re-
tirement.
All her life she was interested
—lisle She rtualified as a music
teacher by obtaining her ATCM
while still in school. For some
years she taught music in addi-
tion to her regular school work.
She gave freely of her time and
talent to the many organizations
to which she belonged and was
particularly interested and ac-
tive ,in the Community Concert
organization.
Mrs. Ziegler was a member of
St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church, Kitchener, and was for
many years a faithful choir
'member. Her minister, Rev.
Grant MacDonald, officiated'at a
largely attended memorial ser-
vice at the Schreiter-Sandroek
Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Sat-
urday. .
Besides her husband, Mrs.
Ziegler is survived by two sisters,
Mrs. Anne Klug of La Mesa, Cali-
fornia, and Miss Agnes William-
son of Wingham. There are also
several nephews and nieces. She
was predeceased by three sisters.
Mrs. T. D. (Kate) Yarington, for-
merly of White Salmon, 'Washing-
ton, Miss Marion Williamson
(Wingham), Mrs. 'W. J. (Marg-
aret) Arnott (Ingersoll) ; and two
brothers, Archie (Toronto) and
Neil (Sault Ste. Marie).
Miss Irene Paton
dies in Clinton
The sudden death occurred at
Huronview, Clinton, on Monday,
December 12, of Miss H. Irene
Paton of Wingham, formerly of
Toronto.
Miss Paton was born on Con-
cession 11, East Wawanosh, a
daughter of the late William G.
Paton and . Jessie Rintoul. She
received her early education at
the Wingham Public School and
moved to Toronto in 1911. Follow-
ing her graduation from the
University of Toronto, she taught
English in secondary schools in
Kenora, Forest. Mimico and New
Toronto. She returned to reside in
Wingham on her retirement in
1957.
She was predeceased by one
sister, E. Pearl Paton, in 1959,
and is survived by several cous-
ins.
The late Miss Irene Paton rest-
ed at the S. J. Walker Funeral
.Home, Wingham, where service
was conducted Thursday at two
o'clock ky Rev. Barry Passmore
of the Wingham United Church
where deceased was a member.
Interment followed in Wingham
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Howard
Walker, Albert Coultes, Roy Mor-
gan. Roy Pearn, Jack McGee and
Murray Shiell. Alvin Pearn car-
ried flowers.

Mrs. Oliver Hayden
dies in 101st year
One of the oldest residents of
this area, Mrs. Oliver Hayden of
Wingham, passed away at the
Wingham and District Hospital
on Thursday, December 15, in her
101st year. Death followed an ill-
ness of five weeks.
The former Jessie Clark, Mrs.
Hayden was born in Fergus on
March 28, 1877, a daughter of the
late Forbes Clark and Jane Mit-
chell Murrison. She married Mr.
Hayden in Walkerton in 1908 and

Woolnough, Toronto. She was
predeceased by five brothers and
two sisters.
The late Mrs. Hayden rested at
the R. A. Currie and Son Funeral
Home, Wingham, where com-
plete funeral and committal ser-
vice was held Saturday at 11 a.m.
Pastor Ross Smith of the Wing -
ham Baptist Church officiated.
Final resting place will be Fergus
Cemetery.
