A leak has been found in a line
carrying radioactive heavy
Water at the Douglas Point
generating station, according to
the operations manager for the
Bruce nuclear power develop-
ment project.
•Elgin Horton said in an inter-
view last week the leak was dis-
covered about two months ago,
and was isolated then.
He said it poses no danger.
The generating station will
likely be shut down while repairs
are made and Mr. Horton said
costs could run to two million dol-
lars in lost production time alone.
Repairs will be made in about
six months time he said.
The broken line is about three-
quarters of an inch in diameter
and is one of several that trans-
ports heavy water used to cool
the reactor.
Mr. Horton said the leak was
at Douglas Point costly to repair
