WINGHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT was represented in the Santa Claus parade with a
number of fire engines, both old and new.

FROSTY THE SNOWMAN represented the Wingham Kinsmen Club in the Santa Claus
parade. He was a big hit with his moving head and arms and flashing nose, taking an
honorable mention in the general category of floats.

Sympathy is extended to Mr.
and Mrs. Walter Moore and
family in the passing last week of
his great aunt, Mrs. Moore of
Harriston, aged 104.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott,

Sunday visitors with hi a mother,
Mrs. Gordon Elliott of Wingham.
The 4-H Achievement Day for
the project "World pf Food in
Canada" is being held this Satur-
day, December 17 in Hillcrest
Central School, Teeswater. -All
ladies of the community are
cordially invited to attend the
afternoon session.
Sunday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Ivan Laidlaw were Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Moore and family of
Wingham and Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Kerr of Bluevale.
Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Adams on the weekend were Mrs.
Jim Smith and Roddy of Goder-
ich, David Adams of Windsor.
Murray Adams of Windsor
spent the weekend with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Adams, and Dawn.
Open House is being held Sun-
day afternoon, 2 to 5 p.m. at the
Manse on December 18. All are

hosts meeting
of Knox WMS
BELMORK — The December
meeting of the Women's Mis-
sionary Society was held at the
home of the new president, Mrs.
Ralph Dickson. Mrs. Elmer Bal-
lagh chose "The Wonder of
Christmas" as the theme of her
meditation on the adoration of the
shepherds from the gospel of
Luke.
Theron call was answered with
suggestions for next year's pro-
gram. Mrs. Don MacAdam re-
ported that $42 had been sent to
the supply fund and about $330
was forwarded to the Presby-
terial treasurer for the general
fund of the Women's Missionary
Society. An interesting discussion
of the reports and the year's
activities enabled Mrs. Bruce
Darling to complete her annual
report.
Mrs. Elmer Jeffray, Mrs. Doug
MacPherson and Mrs. Don Mac -
Adam volunteered to act as a
social committee for the coming
year. The auditors for 1978 are
Mrs. Elmer Ballagh and Mrs.
John Stokes. Mrs. Eimer Jeffray,
Mrs. George Nickel •and Mrs.
Ralph Dickson were appointed to
Conduct the morning devotions at
the annual meeting of Maitland
Presbyterial on January 16, 1978.
The secretary was instructed to
order leaflets for the World Day
of Prayer.
After singing a few favorite
carols, each member contributed
a Christmas feature to a program
of inspiring poems and helpful
articles concluding with a contest
on Christmas carols by Marlene
Darling. The Christmas favors
were distributed to members who
will visit the shut-ins soon to de-
liver them. The meeting con-
cluded with a Christmas hymn
and prayer. Then the president
served a dainty lunch while Mrs.
Kenneth Dickson provided re-
corded Chriatrnas music.
WON TRIP
GORRIE — Mr. and Mrs. Gor-
don Mann won a bus trip and din-
ner to Opry North, Country and
Western Music in Toronto
through Modern Appliance, Lis-
towel, and attended -on Sunday.'
WINGHAM CANADETTES led the Santa Liaus parade
through downtown Wingham Saturday afternoon. There

This community last week en-
dured snow, blowing and drifting
snow which filled up the roads
cancelling school buses. When
the storm subsided Mack Hutchi-
son was a busy chap blowing out
the driveways.
John Moore and Harvey Os-
borne of Toronto spent the week-
end at their homes here.
Mr. and Mrs. Dawson Craig,
due to the snowstorm, had to
spend the weekend •in Toronto.

that Ken Purvis of Mitchell vicin-
ity, recently of this community,
has been confined to the house

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grainger
of Waterloo, accompanied by
Cecil Grainger of K. W. Hospital,
spent Sunday with Mrs. Cecil
Grainger.
William Bennett and sons host-
ed a bus tour from the State of
Michigan on Thursday. The tour
was sponsored by O.M.A.F. and
led by Stan Paquette, Huron
County.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Scott
spent two weeks with their
grandchildren, Lisa and Laura
Rea in Guelph while their parents
were in Florida.
The Gorrie Women's Institute
catered for the Electrohome of
Wingham Christmas banquet in
the Howick Community Centre on
Saturday evening.
Mrs. Myrtle Smith and Gordon
Cook of Owen Sound visited last
Sunday with Mrs. Vernon
Barlow. Mr. Homer Barlow of
Listowel visited Sunday at the

where her aged mother is very ill.

Friday evening, December 16, in
the church.

were Sunday visitors with his
mother, Mrs. Garnet Farrier.
Miss Annie Kennedy of Wing -
ham received word on Saturday
morning that John Scatterty of
Harrow had passed away that
morning. He was the husband of
Annie Kennedy whose home was
on the second of Kinloss, the
fourth farm on the south side of
the road west of SS No. 10. The
community extends sympathy to
Mrs. Scatterty.
