Fergus beats Ironman.
in close -fought game
A good crowd travelled to Fer-
gus last week to cheer the Wing -
ham Ironmen on in a game
against the league's top team, but
the Green Machine spoiled their
effort with a 5-4 win.
Fergus opened the scoring in
the first period with a short-hand-
ed goal but Ironmen's big right
winger Jim McGee got that one
back by slapping in a rebound,
leaving the score tied at one at
the end of the period. Wingham
appeared to out -hustle Fergus in
the first frame but was turned
back time and again by the great
goaltending of Jeff Blingo.
The exciting second period fea-
tured end to end rushes and fine
goaltending with the teams trad-
ing two goals and coming out tied

give Ironmen the edge but, in the

twice coughed up the puck insiyde
their owm blueline giving the
Green Machine all it needed for a
5-4 win.
WHISTLE STOPS: Coach
George Skinn said all three lines:
gave an all-out effort and he felt
the team deserved to come home
