Donaldson dies at Pinecrest The death occurred in Pine - crest Manor Nursing Home, Lucknow, following a brief ill- ness, of Mrs. Emily Donaldson of 52 Bristol Terrace, Wingham. Mrs. Donaldson passed ' away Sunday, November 13, in her 80th year. Mrs. Donaldson was the former Emily Fox and was born in Edin- gale, Warwickshire, England, on April 21, 1898. Her parents were the late Henry Fox and Edith Kirk. Mrs. Donaldson came to Cana- da in 1919 and married Simon Donaldson in Teeswater. He predeceased her in 1955. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Millicent Carter, RR 3, Teeswater, Mrs. Peter (Aileen) •Carter and Mrs. Michael (Dorothy) Willie, both of Wing - ham; three sons, George Carter . of Wingham, William T. of Spar- tanburgh, Pennsylvania, and Arthur Lionel Gallagher of Modesto, California. There are 35 grandchildren and 40 great- grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Louise Harper in England. The late Mrs. Emily Donaldson rested at the R. A. Currie and Son Funeral Home, Wingham, until Wednesday, November 16, when funeral service was conducted at two o'clock by Rev. J. T. M. Swan of St. Paul's Anglican Church where deceased was a member. Interment was in Wingham Cemetery. Pallbearers were six grand- sons, George Carter, RR 3, Holy-, rood, Peter Carter, Walkerton, Tony Carter, Lucknow, Allan Carter, Formosa, Donald Willie, Kitchener, and Donald Carter, Wingham. McNee of Belmore passed away suddenly at the Masonic Lodge, Wroxeter, on Monday night, November 14, in his 69th year. Mr. McNee was born in Col- borne Township on November 1, 1909. Nov. 17 Interment was in Dungannon Cemetery Flower bearers were five grandchildren, Tammy Vella, Jeannette Johnston, Danny McNee, Keith King and Mitchell Weber. Pallbearers were Ken Dickson, Harry Mulvey, Norman Newans, Alex Petrie, Carl Fitch and Arnold Jeffray. OBITUARY PHILLIPS—Passed away in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on Sunday, November 20, Mrs. Herbert Phillips of 45 Alfred Street, Wingham, aged 66 years. She was the former Caterine (Gibson) Rodger and was the dear mother of Andrew Rodger, Wingham; grand- mother of Willie and Ellen Rodger. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs: William (Jessie) Warren of Port Stanley, Helen, Liz and Margaret, all in. Scot- land; and one brother David, in Scotland. The late Mrs. Phillips rested at the R. A. Currie and Son Funeral Home, Wingham, where service was conducted today (Wednesday) at two o'clock. Final resting place will be Wingham Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, do- nations may be made to the charity of one's choice. MURRAY—Passed away at Wingham and District Hospital on Friday, November 18, Mrs. Alphonse Murray of. RR 1, Hollyrood, in her 72nd year. The former Gertrude Collison, 'she was predeceased by her husband in May of this year. She is survived by five daught- ers, Mrs. Keith (Veronica) McCarter, Wallaceburg, Mrs. Lorne (Eleanor) Kraemer and Mrs. Douglas (Barbara) Schmid, both of Toronto, Mrs. Robert (Margaret Anne) Dales of -Smith's Falls and Mrs. Donald (Elaine) Fisher, Bar- rie; six sons, Frank of Culross Township, Leo, Charles and Gerald, all 'of Kinloss Town- ship, Alphonse of Lucknow and John, Drayton; 49 grand- children and two great grand- children. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Weiler and Mrs. Mary Oberle, both of Cambridge; and three brothers, Thomas of Cam- bridge, Patrick and William, both of Culross Township. The late Mrs. Murray rested at the MacKenzie Memorial Chapel, Lucknow, until Monday morn- ing when removal was made to St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Riversdale, for service at 10:30 a.m. Interment fol- lowed in St. Anne's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Rivers - dale. Area hospitals get approval for renovations Health Minister Dennis Tim- brell announced last week ap- proval for three hospitals in this area to proceed With renovation and construction projects. The Wingham and District General Hospital will proceed with boiler conversion during the fiscal year 1978-79 at a cost of more than $140,000, Expansion of emergency department at the Wingham hospital has been de- ferred until after 1980-81. Southampton's Saugeen Memorial Hospital will begin re- placement of its ambulatory care facility before March 31, 1978, at a cost of more than $1 million. Kincardine and District neral Hospital will expand e ergency, radiology, physio; therapy and dietary facilities in the fiscal year 1979-80 at a cost of more than $1 million. A lifelong resident of this area, Robert Leslie Montgomery of 325 Centre Street, Wingham, died Tuesday, November 15, at Uni- versity Hospital, London, 4t the age of 76. Death followed a"brief illness. Mr. Montgomery was a native of Howick Township where he was born on December 30, 1900, one of nine children of Me late Thomas Montgomery and Eliza- beth McMichael. He began his education at the Wroxeter Public School and later attended school in Belgrave. He •farmed on the tenth conces'5ion of East Wawa - nosh before joining the Depart- ment of Highways where he was employed for 28 years before his retirement in 1965. He was a member of the Wingham United Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Alice Elliott, whom he married in Wingham on May 23, 1928; three daughters, Mrs. Anson (Wilda) Ruttan, Fordwich, Mrs. John (Treva) Jamieson, RR 3, Wingham, and Mrs.' Don (Melva) Fraser, RR 4, Blyth; one son, Keith of Wingham; 12 grand- children and six great-grandchil- dren. There is one sister, Miss Jane Montgomery, Brussels, and twb brothers, Archie of Blyth and Lloyd of Wingham. He was pre- deceased by one brother, Joseph, and four sisters, Elsie, Elizabeth, Margaret and Bertha. The late Mr. Montgomery rested at the R. A. Currie and Son Funeral Home, Wingham, where service was conducted at two o'clock Friday by Rev. K. Barry Passmore. Interment followed in Wingham Cemetery. ' Six grandsons were bearers of the casket, Jack Ruttan, Stephen Montgomery, Michael Mont- gomery, Gary Jamieson, Brian Jamieson and Randy Fraser. Blair Fraser, Paul Montgomery and Janis Ruttan, also grandchil- dren, carried floral arrange- ments, donated to the family as expressions of sympathy. Whitechurch Cecil deBoer arrived home from Edmonton last week. He is now at Toronto attending a course. When it is completed he will return to the west. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott, Karen, David and Barry visited on Sunday 'with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Stewart of Lambeth. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mowbray visited from Thursday to Satur- day last week with Mr. and Mrs. Ron Seddon, Brantford. Mr. ' and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin accompanied them and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Henderson in the same city. Miss Lois Falconer of Stratford recently visited friends in the vil- lage. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rintoul ' visited .on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Mac Cardiff, Brussels. Mrs. Harvey Osborne, Bethany, Anna and Laura visited Thursday and Friday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Os- borne, and family of Markdale. Mrs. John Gaunt returned home on Thursday from Wing - ham and District Hospital. The United Church has planned to hold its Christmas concert December 16. A village get-together, in- cluding men and women, ' is planned for Monday, November 28, at the home of Miss Mildred McClenaghan. Those attending may enjoy card games or bring along any craft they may wish to do. Mrs. Edith Brown of London spent the weekend with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Bill Evans. The "Wacky 'Widow" play , group is busy this week putting on the play at Brookside School on Thursday evening and Friday evening at Ripley. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Empey of Auburn were weekend visitors with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Coultes. Mrs. John :de Boer and Mrs. Jim de Boer and Michael were Wednesday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson of Strathroy. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Emerson, Darlene, Sharon and Brenda of St. Catharines spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emer- son. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moss of Plattsville on Sunday brought her mother, Mrs. Ben McClenaghan, who had visited with them the past week, to her home here. The car, a 197u Dodge Coronet belonging to Joseph Bitz of RR 2, Lucknow, was later found com- pletely demolished in a gravel pit near London.
