THE RUNNING BACK
by GEORGE REED
SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS
RECEIVING BALL FROM
QUARTERBACK
The back should never
take his eyes off of the
area where the ball is
intended to be run. It, is
the responsibility of the
quarterback to get the
ball to the back. Getting
off on the count is very
important. After doing so,
the following steps should
be followed:
1. Inside arm (one
nearest the Q.B.)
should be raised and
bent at elbow horizontal
to body
2. Outside arm should be
bent at elbow and
horizontal to body
3. This forms a pocket for
ball. The ball is placed
into pocket with outside
arm acting to stop ball
from going through.
Inside arm then comes
down on ball with both
tips of ball resting in
palm of each hand and
fingers gripping the'
ball.
CARRYING THE BALL
When carrying the ball,
the ball carrier should
carry the ball in the arm
to the side he is running
(right side — right hand;
left side — left hand).
1. Carrying the ball with
one hand, the tip of ball
is placed at the bend in
elbow with the opposite
tip resting in palm of
hand with fingers
spread around.
2. Changing ball from one
hand to the other should
be accomplished by
rolling the ball. The tip
which has been placed
in elbow is rolled to
palm of opposite hand,
with tip from opposite
hand being placed in
elbow.
3. Carrying the ball with
two hands should be the
same as taking ball
from quarterback, with
the exception being that
beth hands are placed
around the tips of ball
and geld firmly close 'to
bony

Recreation Report
BY RENNIE ALEXANDER
Rec. Director
,What is educational, creative
and yet lots of fun? Why it's Chil-
dren's Theatre in Wingham. This
organization was formed in Janu-
ary 1977, under the direction of
Sandra Lee. The group per-
formed one play in April 1977,
"Pinocchio". We had much en-
thusiasm and support.
In September the Children's
Theatre was put back into action,
again under the co-ordination of
Sandra Lee. Sandra's assistants
are Shirley Bell, Trudy Leitch
and Francis Mahe, all of whom
have had a considerable amount
of experience in all phases of
amateur theatre.
The theatre group has had
several workshops, familiarizing
the children with the different
stages of live theatre. One work-
shop was conducted under the
leadership of Jim Schaefer, an
associate director for the Blyth
Summer Festival. The children
are presently preparing for a
Christmas production, which is to
be held in the Town Hall audi-
torium on Thursday, December
8, at 8 p.m. Advance tickets will
be sold. Please come out and sup-
port this recreational activity.
There will be a meeting with all
interested persons who wish to
help with the Wingham Midget
Hockey Tournament. The
meeting will take place Monday,
November 14, 7:00 p.m. 'at the
