New directories
have larger type
This year's telephone direc-
tories have returned to the larger
size type in response to customer
complaints about the smaller
type last year.
Local Bell Canada Manager
Paul Griffiths said the delivery of
the directories is scheduled to
start about Oct. 7 and finish by
Oct. 27. The cover is designed
with Ontario's official flower, the
trillium and eight other wild
flowers found in the province.
Some 57,088 directories will -be
distributed this year, an increase
of almost 6,000 from last year's
total., Bell is adhering to its policy
Instituted a few years ago of
delivering only one directory per
.household. -
"In 1977 we'll save about 11,200
books with this policy", Mr.
Griffiths said. "It cuts down on
costs, helps conserve 'natural
resources such as pulpwood and
reduces paper pollution when it
comes to discarding old direc-
tories."
When deliveries are completed
anyone who might have been
missed can get a directory by
phoning his local Bell Canada
business office after Oct. 27.
Mr. Griffiths said subscribers
should -consult the wealth of
information in the introductory
pages. These include emergency
numbers for police, fire depart-
ment and ambulance, long
distance area codes, discount
times for long distance and Bell
Canada numbers for repair,
directory assistance and business
- office.
The Owen Sound directory
includes listings for more than 40
exchanges.
