The Wingham Foxton BP's wit meet the winner of the Baden -St. Marys match in the WOAA In- termediate "A" championship play-offs. Since winning their division in the Goderich tourna- ment on Labor Day weekend, the BP's have sidelined .Teeswater and Chepstow. In the third and final game, Ed Daer threw a three hitter and struck out 11 Teeswater batters. He also had a long home run in the second in- ning to give Wingham a 1-0 lead.. An error with two out in the seventh led to the final two runs for 'Wingham. Teeswater picked tip a run in the ninth when cat cher Doug Borho hit a towering home run to right field. Pete Snow and Daer each had two hits for the winners. . In .the, semi-finals, . Wingham defeated Chepstow 5-2 in the first game. Don Edgar was the win;, ningpitcherwith relief help front D>a .:1i"aialso` baa •per night at the plate, goingsfour for four with a home run, a triple and two singles and three tuns batted in. •- In the second game in 'Wing - ham, BryanpCoultes led the BP's to a .2-0 win with a sparkling two, hitter. After giving up one hit in each of the three innings, he threw no -hit ball for the rest of the game. After picking 'up an unearned run in the sixth on a hit batter, a stolen base and a Chep- stow error, Bob Armstrong drove a pitch , over the fence in.right field in the eighth. This home run gave Wingham a 2-0 lead. Chep- stow went out in order in the ninth to end the game. The BP's are playing exciting fastball and this . final series should provide excellent fastball for the fans. Details for the series have yet to be arranged. Recreation Report GARY LISLE, DIRECTOR MINOR HOCKEY REGISTRATION: On Friday, Sept, 16 and Satur- day, Sept. 17, 100 ' people registered for Minor Hockey in Wingham for the 1977-78 season. Registration has been extended and will take place again this. Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the arena. All those in- terested in playing Minor Hockey in Wingham this season are Urged to register at this time. The Wingham BP Intermediate "C" fastball team has earned a berth in the WOAA playoff 'finals. Theyl are expected , to start this weekend. Rennie Alexander is working; with me for the next two weeks, at which time he will take over the duties. Rennie is mar- ried and he and his wife, Louanna had their first child about three weeks ago. I feel that he will do an excellent job in this capacity and I'm sure the family will be a big asset_ to the community. Slow pitch team wins group final The Wingham Brophy Tire slow pitch team won its group 'inal against Mitchell three games to one and will now meet New Hamburg in the champion- ship final. The team played heads -up ball to take the series, coming up with excellent plays and great hitting. Doug F'oxton led with two home runs, Bruce Machan added one and the rest of the team con- tributed 11 sine 'I s, three doubles and two tripleshe final score was 11-9. aetteig FORDWICH MIXED Earl Osborne of the Fordwich mixed bowling •league obtained the men's high single and triple at the Molesworth Bowling Lanes this week. Mr. Osborne bowled two games over 200 at 244 and 222. Marion Behrns bowled the ladies' high single with a 232 and Gertie Lambkin bowled the high triple, one of her games 218 and her triple at 588. .Other games bowled over 200 were Roy Townsend, 223, 207; John Conley, 210; Russell Behrns, 216; Bradley Johnson, 230; Dave Dinsmore, 242 and John Matheson, 201. LADIES' LEAGUE After the first week of play, 'Caroline's Bedpans top the stand- ings with seven points. Dale's Dipsticks and Audrey's Organs are locked in a battle for second, with five points each, while Helen's Headaches ani Jean- ette's Catheters are tied for third with two. Jean's Sparetires came up flat and scored no points. You now have 1.2 seconds to kick the ball. The heel' of the ball is covered with the palm of the right hand with the thumb at mid - seam. The nose' of the ball should be cradled in the left hand. The ball is held, as described, out in front of the body, in line with the right leg. You are now Action: ready to start your steps. Your first step is with your kicking foot, which should be pointed forward in a straight line, towards the end zone. Your planted foot takes the next step. It should also • be in a straight line, facing the end zone. The first step and second step are approximately the same distance apart. J�I/T!!r J'/. Now, the kickingleg is coming through, ready to contact the ball. The ball is dropped in a natural arc, toward the kicking foot. Meet the ball with the outside of the' foot.
