After the students paraded through Belgrave, Fair President William Coultes welcomed everyone to the event. There were many exhibits inside and outside the Belgrave arena on which the students had worked very hard, trying for the prizes awarded to the top six entries in each category. Ross .Hamilton, manager of CKNX, officially opened the fair. He told the students in a few years they will have two choices open to them; the fast, exciting life of the city or the slower, chal- lenging life in a small com- munity. He said he hoped many would choose the latter as the com- munities need educated and energetic young people to remain in their midst. Other officials to speak to the crowd included East Wawanosh and Morris reeves, Simon Ha11a- han and William Elston; Director - of Education for Huron, John Cochrane; the Morris, Blyth and East Wawanosh representative on the board, John Elliott and MPP. Murray Gaunt.
