The double ring ceremony was performed at four o'clock by Rev. Barry Passmore. Organist for the occasion was Hap Swat - ridge. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Powell, RR 1, Wing - ham. Parents of the groom are Mrs. Eunice Dunsmuir, Luck - now, and W. Lawson Dunsmuir. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor - length gown of crystalette, im- ported from London, . England. The dress had long, full, bishop sleeves, and a high mandarin neckline. It featured a long chapel, train. A two- tierred silk veil trimmed with matching lace was held with a Juliet capulet. The bride carried a nosegay of yellow roses and white mums. The maid of honor was Karen Powell of Toronto, sister of -the bride. She wore a floor -length gown of yellow nylon doubleknit, with snatching two-tiered cape. She wore a yellow rose in her hair and carried a bouquet of white daisies. In similar ensembles were the bridesmaids, Judy Nicholson of Blyth, friend of the bride, and Susie Powell, RR 1, Wingham, sister of the bride. Dave Hibbert of Ahmic Harbor 'was best man and guests were ushered by Roger Robineau of Toronto and Jim Hanna of Holy - rood. The groom and his at- tendants wore black tuxedos with black velvet trimming. The groom wore a white rose while the ushers wore white carnations. A reception and dinner fol- lowed the ceremony, downstairs in the church. The bride's mother greeted the guests in a turquoise floor -length gown of polyester. She wore a corsage of pink Sweetheart roses. The groom's mother wore a floor -length gown of green polyester. Her corsage was pink Sweetheart roses, also. For , travelling, the bride changed to a brown skirt, with matching jacket and yellow blouse, and wore a corsage of yellow roses. Following their honeymoon, the couple will reside in London, where they are both attending the University of Western Ontario. Honored guests included Mrs. Robert Powell of Wingham, grandmother of the bride, who wore a gown of blue�uylon chiffon patterned with blue ro es, and a corsage of pink carnations, and Mrs. Ruth Helm, Lucknow, grandmother of the groom, who wore a gown of light blue polyester with full sleeves. She also' wore a corsage of pink carnations. Other guests at- tended from Vancouver, Chat ham, Port Hope, Toronto, Kit- chener and London. CWL enjoys -pot .lucre supper The regular meeting of the Catholic Women's League was held in the. Sacred Heart Church basement on Monday evening of last week. Mass was celebrated by the members, followed by a pot luck supper with 12 members and Rev. A. Sonderup in at- tendance. During the business meeting which followed, it was announced that the annual CWL Deanery meeting will he held in Kinkora Separate School on Monday, October 17, with registration at 9:30 a.m. The workshops will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m. An invitation was received from the Wingham United Church Women, asking that the CWL join them on September 26 at 8:15. The theme will be "Ap- preciation of our Community". A few months ago a donation from the League was sent to Brother Bob Middleholtz in India who returned a letter of thanks in which he told of his work there. Bobis originally from Zurich. An invitation to local members to attend the Listowel CWL parish bazaar and social on October 12 was also received. It was brought to the ladies' attention that residents of sur- rounding nursing homes are in need of visitors. The League has visited Brookhaven in the past but since some fellow parish- ioners also reside in Lucknow and Blyth, visits will also be arranged for these centres. October 29\marks the annual tea and bazaar. The tickets are now on sale. Volunteers are still needed for the different tables. The issue of pornography was also discussed as it seems to be becoming a great problem in the community. A survey is being done as to the amount of porno- graphy sold and shown in the stores. It will be decided at the October meeting what steps will be taken in this matter. The meeting was adjourned following a blessing from Father Sonderup and The Prayer To Our Lady of Good Counsel. CONTEST WINNER—Lynne Hill of TeesWater won fhe title of Miss Midwestern Ontario at the contest held at the Lucknow Fall Fair Saturday night. Marianne McKeen, Miss Canada crowned Miss Hill after Peggy MacTaggart (right), last year's Miss Midwestern Ontario said a tearful farewell to an experience -filled year. First runner-up, standing left of Miss Hill is Fern Livingstone of Markdale and second runner-up is Esther Scholl of Mitchell. Angus as she entered the Salva- tion Army Citadel; Burlington, at seven o'clock on the evening of Friday, August 26: They were sung to her by her groom, D. Stephen E. Sallows, as he waited at an altar surrounded with lighted tapers in candelabra adorned with coral gladioli, baby's breath, white daisies and ivy. Small matching bouquets de- corated the church and the -guest pews were marked with white ribbon and small coral flowers. Don Vair of Belgrave was or- ganist and' played Purcell's "Trumpet Voluntary" as a pro-", cessional. He also accompanied Nancy Price of Toronto as she sang The Lord's Prayer during the ceremony. The groom is the son of 'Mrs. Shirley Sallows, Wingham. Given in marriage by her par- ents, the bride wore a floor -length gown of white polyester jersey with beaded -.lace bodice -and long sleeves. The bodice back fea- tured tin : �ebuttons. to below 'the waistline and a flowing train fell from the back of the dress. She wore a Juliet cap with •a two- tiered veil and flowing train. She. carried her maternal grand- mother's handkerchief and a bouquet of white 'orchids, stephanotis, ivy and 'baby's breath. Brenda Wiggs of Burlington, friend of the bride, was maid of honor and bridesmaids, 'were another friend, Pat Mcl bbon qf;, Burlington and Rosanne Sallows of Wingharp, sister of the groom. They were similarly gowned in halter dresses of coral polyester satin with three -tiered . chiffon. capes trimmed with satin and adorned at the necklines with white gardenias. They carried bouquets of coral Sweetheart roses, white daisies, baby's breath and ivy. The junior bridesmaid, Lisa Sallows, sister of the groom, was also gowned in coral polyester satin. Her attached cape was in two tiers with a white gardenia at the neckline, She carried a white basket of white daisies, baby's' breath and ivy. All wore stephanotis boutonnieres. - Guests from Wingham, To- ronto, London, Pickering, Goder- ich, Lucknow, Port Elgin, Water- loo, Belgrave, Cobourg, Hamil- ton, Newfoundland, British Columbia and England attended the reception at Burlington's Holiday Inn•. The head table was centred with a three -.tiered wedding cake made ,by the bride's mother and accented with coral roses. The guest tables were centred with fresh flowers and candles in co-ordinating colors that matched the wedding hues. The bride's mother wore a gown of sapphire blue jersey with chiffon sleeves, silver acces- sories and a corsage of white roses. The groom's mother chose ivory jersey with a chiffon jacket with floral in -lay. Her acces- sories were brown and she wore a corsage of pink roses. For a honeymoon at Lake Joseph, Muskoka District, the bride and groom chose matching ivory pin -stripe suits with brown accessories. She wore a red rose corsage and he a red rose bouton- niere. They will reside in Willow - dale. Honored guests at their grand- son's wedding were Mr. and Mrs. John Finnigan, Wingham.
