CWL enjoys
-pot .lucre supper
The regular meeting of the
Catholic Women's League was
held in the. Sacred Heart Church
basement on Monday evening of
last week. Mass was celebrated
by the members, followed by a
pot luck supper with 12 members
and Rev. A. Sonderup in at-
tendance.
During the business meeting
which followed, it was announced
that the annual CWL Deanery
meeting will he held in Kinkora
Separate School on Monday,
October 17, with registration at
9:30 a.m. The workshops will
begin at 10 a.m. and continue
until 3 p.m.
An invitation was received
from the Wingham United
Church Women, asking that the
CWL join them on September 26
at 8:15. The theme will be "Ap-
preciation of our Community".
A few months ago a donation
from the League was sent to
Brother Bob Middleholtz in India
who returned a letter of thanks in
which he told of his work there.
Bobis originally from Zurich.
An invitation to local members
to attend the Listowel CWL
parish bazaar and social on
October 12 was also received.
It was brought to the ladies'
attention that residents of sur-
rounding nursing homes are in
need of visitors. The League has
visited Brookhaven in the past
but since some fellow parish-
ioners also reside in Lucknow and
Blyth, visits will also be arranged
for these centres.
October 29\marks the annual
tea and bazaar. The tickets are
now on sale. Volunteers are still
needed for the different tables.
The issue of pornography was
also discussed as it seems to be
becoming a great problem in the
community. A survey is being
done as to the amount of porno-
graphy sold and shown in the
stores. It will be decided at the
October meeting what steps will
be taken in this matter.
The meeting was adjourned
following a blessing from Father
Sonderup and The Prayer To Our
Lady of Good Counsel.
