Madill Secondary School, Wingham, Stan Loree, is one of .four area students named winners of Rene Descartes Foundation scholarships for 1977 at the University of Waterloo. These scholarships are awarded each year to freshmen mathem- atics students entering univer- sity. They are named after the French philosopher and math- ematician of the 17th century. Stan receives a $200 scholar- ship awarded for the first year of his studies.
