She received the pin from her sister, Mrs. George Thompson. Mrs. Moore opened the meeting with a poem entitled "Life" and delivered the meditation on "Finishedness". Following the singing of a hymn, Mrs. Gros- korth read scripturg from the second chapter of Padfrs letter to the Ephesians. Alpha Huron has new logo The next time you see a round, green ,on white sticker, look again. It might be Alpha Huron's logo. The logo was chosen from several drafted by Alpha mem- bers. It will also appear on letter- heads and envelopes used by the Huron group. Just another way to keep us aware of the handi- capped. Twenty-three Alpha members and friends enjoyed a barbecue . at the home of Ralph and Pat Watson at Brussels. Cold, damp weather kept the group inside but all enjoyed a social time. Jim Hunsberger from Alpha London brought news that the Housing Brief for the Handi- capped would be presented to Cabinet on Sept. 29. Jim hopes that all who support the brief will alert the local M.P.P. Members agreed to rotate meetings, between Holmesville and Brussels on a trial basis. Alpha will meet next at Holmesville Public School, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. For information, call Elaine Townshend at Clinton, 482- 3357, Mary Howell at Goderich, 524-8642, or Pat Watson at Brus- sels, 887-6236. Mrs. Thompson read "Sen- tenced To Live", the story of a man with leukemia and his Chris- tian outlook on life. Mrs. Thomp- son led in prayer and another hymn was sung. Rev. Wilena Brown led in prayer and led a discussion on the different stages of adulthood: first, pulling up roots; second, trying twenties; third, Catch 30; fourth. deadline decade (35-451. fifth, renewal or regeneration (45 and over) . Roll call was answered by a verse containing the word "grow- ing". Treasurer Mrs. Dave Gibb received the offering. The president, Mrs. Lorne Durn;n, thanked the hostess and all those participating in the meeting. She closed the meeting with prayer and a birthday tea was held. Surprise party honors 25 years WHITECHURCH — Mrs. Gor- don Elliott of Wingham extended an invitation to her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Walter E)liott, to enjoy Sunday dinner with her at her home to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Meanwhile, at home, the family had invited relatives and neighbors, about 60 in number, to celebrate the occasion during the afternoon and evening. When Mr. and Mrs. Elliott arrived home, they were surprised to find their family and friends waiting. Mr. and Mrs. Bill MacPherson of St. Helens (Isobel Elliott) were celebrating their 23rd anniver- sary. Richards of Toronto and §he is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald MacAdam of RR 2, Wing - ham. Miss Evelyn Dickson of RR. 1, Clifford, presided at the console of the church organ and accom- panied Mrs. Larry Elliott of RR 1, Wroxeter, as she sang "Ever- green", and Mr. Elliott as he sang "Wedding Song" during the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Elliott sang "Walk Hand in Hand" as a recessional. Given in marriage , by her father, thebridewore a gown she had made of polyester satin with empire waistline, short puffed sleeves and trimmed with lace. Over this she wore a waist -length cape of lace. She wore a picture hat trimmed with polyester sheer and carried a bouquet of yellow roses and mums. Miss Donna MacAdam was her sister's maid of honor and Miss Jean MacAdam and Miss Marie MacAdam, sisters of the bride, were bridesmaids. Thebride's attendants were gowned in ocean green figured chiffon with matching bolero jackets. They wore nre hats .14 t• trimmed with their dress material and carried arm bouquets of yellow and bronze mums and white daisies. Best man was. Gregory DeLong, friend of the groom, of Toronto. Ushers were Roy Mason, Toronto, and Barry Richards, Toronto. brother of the groom. The groom wore a beige tuxedo and his attendants wore beige and brown tuxedos. A dinner was held at 6:30 p.m. at•the Howick Community Centre where a wedding cake and candles decorated the head table. A dance and reception followed the dinner. The bride's mother received guests wearing a sleeveless rose figured polyester satin gown with a cape collar and a corsage of yellow Sweetheart roses. The groom's mother assisted wearing a gown of baby blue polyester sheer with attached cape and a corsage of pink Sweetheart roses. After a wedding trip to eastern Ontario, the couple is residing at 52 Thorncliffe Park Drive,'Toron- to. Bath bride and groom are honor graduates of the University of Waterloo, the groom in en- vironmental studies and the bride in mathematics. Honored guests were the bride's grandmothers, M.rs. Members of the Christian Reformed Church formed a choir for the Sunday evening song service led by Dick Roorda, ac- companied at the piano by Mrs. Elsie Henderson. A group of girls sang two special numbers which were enjoyed by everyone and they provided their own guitar accompaniment. Marie Flynn, Lorne Lawson, Norman Speir and Cecil Skinner provided the old tyme music for Monday's activities. Melissa Moffatt, Dawn and Debbie Flynn assisted with vocal and step dancing numbers. The Brussels Pipe Band led by Tom McFarlane entertained on F'aniily Night with a concert on the front lawn. The weather was ideal for the program outdoors and the residents who were not able to attend were able to see and hear the band from the west windows of the Home. Ben King, formerly from the Brussels area, thanked the members of the band on behalf of the residents.
