corn stabilization,
11Q1?II$ corn prices have cre-
ated IMO interest by Huron
?aunty farmers in corn stabiliza-
talon plans.
For the 1976 Crop the Federal
support price is $2.18 per bushel.
r1is covers all, corn sold between
September 1, 1976 and August 31,
1977. It does NOT guarantee a
producer $2.18 for his corn, but it
Is based on „the average price for
e year (Sept. to Aug.) , which
civrrently is close to $2.18. To date
there is a possibility of a small.
Payment — six tenths of a cent to

one cent per bushel, which would.
be available on any sale of corn,
Whether sold at $2.30 or $1.80. The
final price and payment (if any)
will be announced in October and
producers would have to submit
sales invoices along with the ap-
plication.
Maximum limitations have not
been announced to date.
For the 1977 crop the federal
plan will again be a five-year
average. This will be above the
$2.18of the 1976 crop — but how
much is not clear and it will not
be announced until well into 1978.
It could be $2.25-$2.30 range and
in most other aspects would func-
tion like the 1976 support price,
with payment to be made in late
fall of 1978.
For 1977 crop there are tenta-
tive plans for an Ontario Corn
Stabilization Program. This pro-
gram would:
1. Require enrolment forms
2. Have a fee of 3-4 cents per
bushel. (payment of fee deferred
until plan pays out)
3. Add ..approximately 10-11
cents per bushel to the 1977 Fed-
