Lucknow went on. to win the game, part of the Lucknow Kinsmen's fastball tournament, and eventually the championship. Lucknow Legion wins Kinsmen tournament Eight ,fastball teams from towns and cities such as Gode- rich, Kitchener, Waterloo and Mount Forest travelled to Luck - now last ieekend to play in the Lucknow Kinsmen's fourth an- nual fastball tournament. When the dust had settled, the Lucknow Legion team emerged as champions, with OW Sports of Waterloo in the runner up spot. Lakeport Steelers from Goderich won the consolation final and Mount Forest took the runner up spot in the consolation. Neil Bieman of the Legion team was named most valuable player lnd won a sports•watch, present - ?d by Labatts. Games started Friday night Lnd continued through Saturday, vith the championship and con- olation games on Sunday. The Belrnore Girls went on a scoring spree against Cargill, taking two games 25-4 and 3114. In Intermediate play, Belmore took a game froze Monkton.by a 7- 4 score. Belgrave girls win The Belgrave Tri -County'• Juvenile Girls' .ball team de- feated Atwood 38-14 Monday night to win its " quarter -final playoff series in two straight games:' They now advance into the semi-finals against the winner of the Brussels -Walton series. Brus- sels holds a 1-0 lead in that series. HER TEAM IS WINNING and, her daddy will eventually be named most valuable player of the tournament. Miranda Bieman, age 101/2 months, wasn't missing a thing during the fastball tournament in Lucknow last weekend. In this game the Lucknow Legion downed a Goderich team 10-4. The Legion went on to win the championship and Legion player Neil Bieman took home a sports watch, presented by Labatts, as the tournament's most valuable player. Watching with Miranda are Lynda Hamilton,_ Susan Stevenson and Nancy Bieman. Seaforth wins Hanna trophy Monday evening, Aug. 8th, the Wingham Lawn Bowling Cldb welcomed 18 rinks to compete for the Hanna Trophy. Rain delayed the tournament for one hour, but did not dampen the spirits of the players. First, place was won by, the Jack Muir rink from • Seaforth, with 3 wins, plus of 36 and an over plus of 1. Second place winners were the Lee Ryan rink from Goderich, with 3 wins and.a plus of 36. Third place went to the John Patterson rink from Sea - forth, with 2 wins and a plus of 35. Outside entries came from At-. wood, Clinton, Goderich', Luck- now, Seaforth and Teeswater. STRIKE!—Laurie Haines pitched a strong game Sunday afternoon as Wingham°Midgets pounded out a 17-4 victory over Hanover to take the series 2-1. Wingham now meets Clinton. AT BAT—Doug Stevenson comes to the plate for the Lucknow Legion in a game against the Green & Parent Thunderbirds of Goderich last weekend. The game was part of the annual fastball tournament organized by the Lucknow Kinsmen. The Legion team won this game 10-4 and eventually emerged as overall winners of the tourna- ment.
