Knox WMS holds August meeting BELGRAVE — The , August meeting of the WMS was held on Monday, August 8 at the home of Mrs. Garner Nicholson. Mrs, Victor Youngblut presided and read a poem entitled the "Love of God" then a hymn was sung. Mrs. Mac Scott read scripture from Matthew, chapter 6. Mrs. George Fear gave the meditation entitled "Looking to the Future". Mrs. Joe Dunbar led in prayer. The secretary's report was given by Mrs. J. C. McBurney and the treasurer's ,report was given by Mrs. Youngblut. Twenty-six sick and shut-in calls were recorded. The roll call was -answered with a Beatitude. Some plans were made for a 90th- anniversary meeting in October. The topic was taken by Mrs. McBurney entitled "The Haunt- ing Question of Aid". After this a hymn was sung. The meeting closed with the Lord's Prayer in unison. A pot luck supper was enjoyed following the meeting. BIRTHDAY PARTY—The Belgrave United Church Women held a birthday party for women in the area who are 80 years old and over. Mrs. Bessie Elliott thanked the entertainers on behalf of the resi- dents. 'Social evening honors Beecrofts BELGRAVE — A social eve- ning was held Friday evening in the WI Hall when friends and neighbors gathered in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Beecroft who were recently married. All joined in several games and a short program with Peter Mason as chairman. Ronald McBurney read the ad- dress and Jim McGee and Barry Mason presented them with two matching trilight table lamps. Credit Union offers member chequing free BELGRAVE — Directors of the North Huron Credit Union recently decided to offer free chequing to members. At their meeting Aug., 12, they agreed to discontinue the 10 cent per cheque charge effective Aug. 1. Personal cheouinv serrIcc was ' introduced as part of the credit union's expansion plan one year ago. The directors also approved the addition of 10• new names to the membership.
