Former resident,
John C Garbutt,
dies in Woodstock
John Charles Gorbutt of Point
Clarke Beach, RR 1, Ripley, for-
merly of Wingham, died Wedtnes
day, August 10, at the Woodstock
General Hospital, Woodstock,
Ontario. He was in his 81st year
and death followed an illness of
three months.
Mr. Gorbutt was born in Hullett
Township on March 22, 189'4, one
of six children who blessed the
marriage of the late Fred Gor-
butt and Janet Carrick. He
received his education at Londes-
boro and served in the First
orld War, 1914-1918, with tks-
anadian Army.
Mr. Gorbutt was a woodworker
by trade, beginning his career at
the Piano Factory, Clinton, and
later working at Wingham Manu-
facturing, Lloyd Doors Ltd., and
the Gunn -Son -Ola Company,
Wingham. He retired seven years
ago.
He was a member of St. And-
rew's Presbyterian Church,
Wingham, and the Independent
Order of . Oddfellows, Maitland
Lodge No. 119, Wingham. A
memorial service under the aus-
pices of the Lodge was held
Thursday evening in the funeral
home.
Mr. Gorbutt married the for-
mer Charlotte Sarah May Camp-"
bell of Wingham on May 10, 1922.
She survives, with one son, John
C. Gorbutt of Yulee, Florida; one
daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Bever-
ley) Lambkin, Woodstock; and
ix grandchildren, Jennifer- and
isa Gorbutt of Yulee, Florida,
nd David, Joy, Danny and Law-
ence Lambkin, Woodstock. Also
urviving are three sisters, Mrs.
rederick (Rose) Ohm, Wing -
am, Mrs. Edith Pederson and
Mrs. Jenny Smith, both of Port

Robert' Gordon Messer of Blue -
vale died Aug. 5 in his 83rd year.
He was born May. 21, 1894 in
Turnberry Township to the late
John Messer and Martha Ann
McKinney.
Surviving is a brother J. Har -
very of Toronto.
Educated in Bluevale, the late
Mr. Messer was a farmer all his
life. He was a member of the
Bluevale Presbyterian Church
and the Oddfellows Lodge.
He was predeceased by sister

7 from the R. A. Currie and Son
Funeral Home, Wingham. Rev,

WARD --Passed away in London
on Sunday, August 14, Mrs. John
Ward of 148 Delaware Street,
Thamesford, formerly of Wing -
ham, aged 57 years. The former
Florence Isabel Franklin, she
was a daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Franklin. Sur-
viving, besides her husband, is
one sister, Mrs. Roy (Pearl)
Johnston, Palmerston. She Was a
member of the United Church.
The late Mrs. Ward rested at the
S. J. Walker Funeral Home, .
Wingham, where complete .fun-
eral and committal service was
conducted. by Rev..,Barry Pass-
more on Tuesday at two o'clock.
Interment followed in Wingham
