Pink on lue brightens
summer church ceremony
Delicate summer colors of pink
and blue were worn by five senior
attendants as they preceded Bar-
bara Stapleton down the aisle of
St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church where she was joined in
marriage to Bruce Bushell of RR
2, Holyrood. The ceremony was
performed at 4:30 on the after-
noon of Saturday, July 16, by
Rev. Robert H. Armstrong,
assisted by Don Collar. Baskets
of summer flowers formed the
setting and lighted tapers in can-
delabra enclosed the altar.
Douglas Thomson presided at
the console of the church organ.
He accompanied Mrs. Susan Tra-
boulay as she sang "Shepherd of
Love" and "Love Is Surrender".
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Horton sang
"To Glorify Thee" and the Twen-
ty- hird Psalm.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William Stapleton, RR
3, Wingham, who gave her in
marriage. Parents of the groom
are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bushell,
RR 2, Holyrood.
The bridal gown was floor -
length, styled with high neckline.
Sheer lace formed the yoke ac-
cented with white swiss dots
which also covered the ,dress. A
white satin band enhanced the
waistline and a large flounce,
bordered with delicate lace,
formed the sleeves. A waist -
length veil fell from a dainty
head -piece embedded with pearls
and trimmed with lace. She car-
ried a bouquet of peach colored
roses, sprinkled with baby's
breath.

Board votes to retain
English texts now in use
The Huron County Board„of
Education defeated a motion
Monday calling for the removal
of two English texts from the
county secondary school system.
Trustee John Henderson put
forward the motion when a list. of
13 English literature texts came
before the board for approval.
He said the books, "A Taste of
Honey", Which was on the list,
and "The Diviners" which was
not, should not be approved.
"These are. books that should-
n't be allowed in the schools," he
said. He did not elaborate.
Superintendent of Education
James Coulter told the board that
the list of Grade 13 literature
books had already been in use in
the school system for a long pe-
riod- He said their use had not
been approved by the Huron
Board of Education because they
were already in -use before the
county .system was set up.
"I don't think we should be tak-
ing books out that are already in
use," Trustee Alex Corrigan said.
'After the defeat of Mr. Hender-
son's motion for removal of the
books, Trustee Dorothy Wallace
introduced a motion calling for
the text list to be approved. The
motion was carried.
Later in the meeting Trustee
Eugene Frayne asked Mr. Coul-
ter if the teachers were abiding
by the rules set down by the
board which stipulate books with
"questionable language" should
not be introduced into the school
system,
Mr. Coulter said the teachers
were following the guidelines.
"The books on the list are not new
books in the system," he said. ,
