The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Mary F. Woods, RR 1,
Wingham, and the late Walter H.
Woods- The parents of the groom
are Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Raper of
Cargill.
.' The bride, escorted up the aisle
by her brother, Wayne Woods of
Pembroke, wore a wedding
gown of white ,silk •organza fash-
ioned on empire lines.
The gown featured a high neck-
line trimmed with Belgian re -
embroidered lace, a V -insert of
chiffon at the neckline, and long
full sleeves.
The full skirt fell from a band of
matching lace, designed in red-
ingote effect, with similar trim
and matching lace at hemline.
A Juliet headpiece of lace and
pearls held in place her cathedral
veil and she carried a nosegay of
pink silk rose buds and white gar-
denias.
Mrs. Lorna Martin of Appin
attended her sister as matron of
honor, wearing a sleeveless,
floor -length gown of baby blue
polyester knit, with matching
sheer accordion pleated jacket.
Her blue picture hat was trim-
med with apple bl ssurhi� anti
gardenias. She carried a bouquet
of pink silk roses, gardenias and
baby's breath,
Flower girls, Alanna Woods,
and Shelley Woods, nieces of the
bride, wore identical floor -length
frocks of white dotted polyester
crepe. The yokes were smocked
in pink and blue and the hemlines
featured full flounces.
Each of the girls carried a pink
rose and baby's breath, tied with
blue and white ribbon.
Brian Raper of Walkerton was
best man for his brother and the
ushers were Keith Woods of Lon-
don, brother of the bride, and Jim
Wilhelm of Walkerton, friend of
the groom.
Wedding music was played by
the organist, Mrs. Cora Robert-
son.
Doug Inglis sang the "Wedding
Song" as a processional, "An-
nie's Song", and "The Lord's
Prayer", during the ceremony.
At the dinner reception in How -
"ick Community Centre, the
bride's mother received her
guests wearing a floor -length
gown of turquoise polyester knit,
with tailored jacket. Her corsage
was pink silk Queen Elizabeth
roses.
The groom's mother chose a
floor -length ensemble of floral
rose polyester sheer and wore a
corsage of white Garden Party
roses.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Raper are re-
siding at 105 Elgin Street, Walk-
erton.
Chalmers COC
July meeting
Twelve members of the Chil-
dren of the Church at Chalmers
Presbyterian in Whitechurch an-
swered the roll call be naming a
grain from the Bible during their
meeting last month.
President Eddie DeBoer gave
'the call to worship at the meet-
ing, held in the Sunday School
room during the regular worship
service. Bobby Jamieson read
Mark 8: 22-26 as the scripture les-
son and prayer was given by
Karen Pickard.
Kendra Purdon read - the
minutes of the last meeting and
the birthday calendar was mark-
ed. The offering was received by
Steven Rintoul and the offering
prayer given by Donald Irwin.
Mrs. Archie Purdon gave the
junior story and Mrs. Hugh Simp-
son gave the senior story, "He
would not,run away", based on I
Corinthians 16: 13. The closing
prayer was sung.
Finnigan pknic
About 65 descendants of the
late John Firullgan and Mary
Jane McMath held their annual
family reunion on Sunday, July 10
at Lions Park, Seaforth. A
smorgasbord dinner was enjoyed
by all.
In the absence of the presid nt,—
Muriel Neil, the past president,
Hilda Finnigan conducted the
business meeting. A minute
silence was observed to honor
family members who had passed
away during the year.
The president and secretary -
treasurer will carry on for an-
other year- The new games com-
mittee for 1978 is Michael and
Karen Finnigan, Colin and Patti
Haney and Brian Finnigan ; lunch
committee, Annie Finnigan, Gor-
don and Elmira Finnigan. It was
decided to have the 193 picnic in
the Goderich area.
Games and contests were con-
ducted by Annie and Kitchener
Finnigan. Winners were: races
under 6 years, Mahana Finnigan ;
under 12 yetars, Lisa Sallows ; -
gard game, Doris Hitchcock's
team; rabbit and hunter contest,
Ron McKnight's team; candle
contest, Don and Frances Mc-
Knight; lady with whitest hair,
Mrs. N. Finnigan; ,nose pennies
in pocket, Harold Finnigan; lady
with most buttons, Carol Bris-
bane; kick the slipper, Lisa Sal -
lows.
Relatives were present from
Cambridge (Galt), Dungannon,
Toronto, Seaforth, Wingham,
Windsor, Barrie, Acton, Missis-
sauga,'London, Burlington and
Goderich.

Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a floor
length dress made of white poly-
ester crepe with an empire waist-
line and A. -line skirt. The attire
featured sheer butterfly sleeves
and a cape trimmed with match-
ing lace. Shewore a band head-
piece,. trimmed to match the
dress, with a long veil of tulle
attached, trimmed with match-
ing lace 'also.
The bride carried -a bouquet of
pink baby roses, pink carnations
and white baby's' breath,,'AltiAg
with her bouquet she carded a
white prayer book, given to her
by her, grandmother,/ Mrs. Lila
Higgins es a graduation gift.
Maid of honor was Beth Lassa -
line, sister orthe.groom of RR 2,
Gorrie. Bridesmaids were
Marilyn Penner, sister of the
bride of Listowel and Kathy
Chapman of London.

•'dresses of flocked batiste, witlii an
empire waistline, an A-line skirt
-and cap sleeves. They wore band
headpieces' and carried . baskets
of daisies.
q' Best. man was Doug Nolle of
Wroxeter. Ushers were Ed Roth
of Gorrie and David Penner, the
bride's brother-in-law of Listo-
wel. They, as was the groom,
were dressed in light blue suits
with white ruffled -shirts trimmed
with blue and white carnation
boutonnieres.
A dinner was held at 6:30 at the
Wingham Legion Hall where a
three . tiered round wedding cake
sat on the bride's• table, with two
candles on either side of the cake
and the wedding party's flowers.
A dance and reception followed
the dinner with music to the
"Krossings". Guests were wel-
comed by the bride's mother in a
floor -length, sleeveless yellow
gown, featuring an empire waist-
line v -neckline and a sheer cape.
She wore a white carnation cor-
sage. The groom's mother,
assisting in welcoming guests,
wore a floor-lengtPr-blue floral
gown in a princess style with a
sheer cape and a white carnation
corsage.
For a wedding trip to the
Pocono Mountains in Penn-
sylvania, USA, the bride wore a
blue polyester three piece suit,
which she made herself.
Guests Were present from De-
troit, Toronto, Woodbridge, Lon-
don, Stratford, Goderich, Han-
over, Listowel, Wingham ' and
surrounding area. Mr. and Mrs.
Lassaline plan to reside in Lon-
don. •
. The bride is a graduate of F. E.
Madill Secondary 'School, Wing -
ham and Fansliawe's regional
school for medical laboratory
technologists. The groom is a
graduate CF Listowel District
High School and -he holds a jour-
neymanship in the trade of tool
and die maker and is employed at
Wilco of Canada, London.
The bride's great-aunt, Agnes
Frankum, of Woodbridge was a
special guest.
Following the wedding rehear-
sal, a gathering was held at the
home of the groom's parents.
Showers in honor of the bride
were held at the homes of IQ.,thy
Chapman and Mrs: W. Wallace,
both of London, and Mrs. John
Cruickshank , of Wingham
assisted by Mrs. Earl Haywood,
Mrs. Roy Morgan and Mrs. John
McIntosh. A shower held at the
Anglican Church parish hall was
hosted by Elizabeth Nethery,
Heather Farnell and Mrs, Trudy
Leitch ,.A couples' party was held --
for the bride and groom at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Roth of
Gorrie.

FAMILIES ENJOY PICNIC
BELGRAVE—The local United
Church Women held a family
picnic at Wingham's Riverside
Park on Sunday, July 24, with an
attendance of More than 60
people.
The children. enjoyed swim-
ming and other activities in the
park while the adults visited.
A smorgasbord pot luck supper
was enjoyed by all. .
A friendship that began 40
years ago by letter continues
to grow for Mrs. Harry
Savage. (left) of Stanley,
N.B., and Mrs. Parker Camp-
bell of Wingham. They have
been pen pals for 40 years and
met for the first time 17 years
ago. Mr. and Mrs. Savage and
Bessie Flewelling, all' of.
Stanley, spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Campbell.
