The music was performed by a
trio of friends of the bride. They
sang, "Today", "Evergreen"
"Wedding Song", and "Day by
Day".
The bride wore a floor -length
gown with a chapel train. The
dress featured a ruffle • frill
around the V-shaped neckline
and long sleeves. The elbow -
length veil fell from a white
brimmed hat. She carried a white
basket filled with white and yel-
low mums and blue carnations.
The maidof honer was Patti
Tanner of' ,Tillsonburg and the
bridesmaids were Brenda Pok-
orny of. Tillsonburg, Mrs. Garry
Chambers, Wroxeter, sister of
the groom; apd Rosemary Zei of
Tillsonburg.
They wore similar floor -length
gowns of blue jersey with a scoop
neck and .cap sleeves. They car-
' ried basket's of flowers similar to
those of the bride.
The best man was Peter Gibson
of Stratford, and the ushers were
Keith Brighton of Brussels, Har-
old Mutter of Kitchener, brother
of the groom; and Wayne Starr of
London.
The groom's mother wore a
champagne beige floor -length
gown of French lace with a
matching jacket with an orange
rosebud corsage.
The bride's mother wore a
floor -length blue gown with a
matching lace jacket and a pink
rosebud corsage.
A reception was held at the
Tillsonburg Legion in Tillson-
burg.
For a wedding trip to northern
British Columbia, Jasper and
Banff national parks in Alberta
the bride wore a navy and white
pantsuit with a matching white
shell and corsage of red sweet-
heart roses.
Out-of-town guests attended
from Brussels, Listowel area,
London, Delhi, Penticton, B. C.;
Kitchener, Clifford, and Gode-
rich.
Trapp and Brad Young were getting their lessons Monday
morning from Linda Taylor and Janet Wood.

was a sleeveless white peau de
soie, with a chapel train trim-
med with eyelet and daisy trim.
Her three-quarter length veil was
held with a ring of daisies. She
carried a bouquet of pink silk
roses,
Matron of honor was Mrs. Pam
Charlton of Petrolia. She .wore a
gown of azril rayon polyester
with lace trim and butterfly
sleeves. The dress featured a set-
in sash and she carried, silk pink
roses and white daisies and wore'
a white hat.

They wore blue tuxedoes with
matching ruffled blue shirts.

Paul Creeden, nephew of the
bride, Peterborough, Dean
Edgar, brother of the groom, and
Jeff Thompson, nephew of the
bride, Bridgen.
A dinner and reception was
held at the Legion Hall in Petrolia
which was decorated 'with blue
and white streamers and bells.
Guests from Peterborough,
Kamloops, B.C., Wingham, Bel -
grave, Blyth, Brussels, London,
Sarnia, Essex, Portsmouth, New
Hampshire, ° Stratford, Brigden,
Windsor and Petrolia were wel-
comed by the bride's mother who

Falls the couple will reside in

for 35 years
A very enjoyable evening was
held recently at the home of Mrs.
Helen McBurney, Wingham, in
honor of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
McBurney of East Wawanosh, on
the occasion of their 35th wedding
anniversary.
Relatives were. present from
Toronto, London, Byron, Kitch-
ener, Listowel and the local area.
A beautiful picture was presented
to the honored guests, along with
best wishes from everyone for
many happy returns of the day.
A bountiful lunch was served
and. a good time was -had by all
present.
Brussels church ceremony
unites couple in marriage
St. Ambrose Roman Catholic
Church, Brussels, was the scene
of a pretty summer ceremony on
,Saturday, June 25, at three
o'clock, when Kathryn Denise
Blake and Paul Walter Elliott ex-
changed vows before Rev. A.
Sonderup.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon J. Blake of RR
2, Brussels. Mr. and Mrs. G. Wal-
ter Elliott, RR 1, Lucknow, are
parents of the groom.
Peach and white shasta
daisies, accented by white mums
and gladioli, decorated the altar
and the pews were marked with
peach ribbon and small white
wedding bells.
Mrs. Gail Moffett, Stratford,
sang "The Wedding" before the
bride entered the church and "On
This Day" during the ceremony.
During the signing of the register
she sang "The Hawaiian Wed-
ding Song". She was accom-
panied by Mrs. Leona Connelly of
Brussels. '4
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride chose a lace -
trimmed crystalette gown with
floor -length train. Her elbow -
length veil was held in place by a
lace and pearl studded bridal
cap. She carried a cascade of
peach roses and stephanotis with
trailing ivy, and white ribbon.
Mrs. Rosemary Mathers,
Goderich, sister of the bride, was
matron of honor. She wore a
peach floor -length pastel figured
gown accented.. with white lace,
Her large white picture hat was
trimmed with a peach rose and
she carried a basket of peach and
white shasta daisies.
Mrs. Debbie Blake; Brussels,
sister-in-law of the bride, Mrs. -
Ruth Laidlaw,. Windsor, sister of
the groom, and Mrs. Faye Peel,
Gorrie, cousin of the bride, were
bridesmaids. They were gowned
in pastel figured gowns of yellow,
blue and green identical to that of
the matron of honor. They car-
ried baskets of daisies to match
their gowns and wore large white
picture hats trimmed with
corresponding roses to match
their gowns.
Karen Elliott, sister of the
groom, and Bonnie Henderson,
cousin 'of the groom, were flower
girls. They wore pale peach
figured gowns similar to the
matron of honor's dress and car-
ried baskets of peach and white
shasta daisies.
Best man was Jack Martin,
Wingham, friend of the groom.
Ushers were Barry Elliott,
Whitechurch, brother of the
groom; Bob McMichael, Clinton,
friend of the groom, and Paul
Blake, Brussels, brother of the
bride. Steven Blake, Brussels,
cousin of the bride, and Wayne
Forster, cousin . of the groom,
were ring bearers for the double -
ring ceremony. The groom wore
a beige tuxedo trimmed with
brown velvet, peach ruffled shirt
and a peach rose boutonniere,
The groom's attendants wore
beige tuxedos trimmed with
brown velvet, white ruffled shirts
in shades • corresponding to the
bridesmaids' gowns and match-
ing carnation boutonnieres.
Following the wedding the
guests were received at the Brus-
sels Legion Hall. The bride's
table was centred with a three -
tiered cake and silver candelabra
with tall peach and white tapers.
The bride's mother received in
a pastel blue floor -length gown
with matching sheer cape. The
groom's mother chose a pink
floor -length gown with a lace
bolero jacket. ,They wore white
gardenia corsages. Vic Walden,
Goderich, uncle of -the bride, was
master of ceremonies.
A reception dance followed to
the music of The Foursome. The
bride chose a green., white and
beige striped street -length dress
with dark green jacket for travel-
ling. She wore a corsage of peach
baby carnations. The groom wore
a beige suit with a peach rose
boutonniere.
Honored guests were grand-
mothers Mrs. Mary Blake, Brus-
sels, and Mrs. Agnes Elliott,
Wingham, and the groom's
grandfather, William Forster,
Lucknow.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Elliott are
residing in Brussels. The groom
is employed by the Sun Oil Com-
pany and the bride is a registered
nurse employed at Seaforth and
District Hospital.

McMichaels enjoy
golden anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Jack McMichael
have returned home from Banff,
Springs Hotel, Alta., having spent
the past two weeks there to cele-
brate their 50th wedding anniver-
sary.
The couple were married in
Wingham, June 29, 1927, at the
home of the bride's mother, Mrs.
A. Joynt. The ceremony was per-
formed by Rev, M. M. Bennett
and the witnesses were• Miss Bea-
trice Joynt and Emmerson Ben-
nett.
Mr. McMichael was employed
-by the Prudential Life Insurance
Company and moved to Listowel
in 1934 as staff manager to take
over the local office.
Among the congratulations rel
ceived was the one from Prime
Minister Pierre Trudeau, Pre-
mier William Davis,, MPP Hugh
Edighoffer, MP Bill Jarvis and
Joe Clarke, PC party leader.
CORRECTION
The Wingham Women's Insti-
tute donated $50 to the town
toward the cost of flowerpots, not
$500 as appeared in last week's
report. We regret this typesetting
error.
During the Gold Rush, a wagon
road between Whitehorse and
