E. Madill Secondary School, has been appointed counsellor for the coming year. Ms. Pratt has con- tributed greatly to the business education of students during the past 8 years and will be respon- sible for a continued liaison be- tween local educators and the central executive. The Ontario Business Edu- cation Association has, been in continuous operation since 1895 and is a functioning group repre- senting the 1000 business educa- tors across the province. In addi- tion to newsletters and confer- ences, it is also actively engaged yin sponsoring professional work- shops each fall in order to main- tain a high level of proficiency in the classroom. -Mrs. Hazel Tuck spent a few days with her daughter and son- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Deyell of London. —Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Moffat, Julie Ann, Kendra and Alexander of Oakville, visited last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Farish Moffat, Minnie Street. —Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Mont- gomery returned home Friday after holidaying the past three weeks with friends and relatives in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Sault Ste, Marie. Fordwich and ( the . bride is the da;<ughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Weber of Walkerton. The bride wore a white shilk organza floor -length gown fashioned on empire lines. The bodice featured a sheer yoke with motifs of Venice lace and outlined with a scalloped edge of match- ing lace. A similar trim was used at the neckline and on the long full bishop sleeves. The skirt lengthened into a train ,and was edged at the hemline with a band of matching lace, The headpiece, a Juliet cap with rhinestones and pearls, held in place her shoulder length veil of tulle illusion edged in snatching lace. She carried a cascade of pink roses and white stephanotis. The maid of honor was Brenda Weber of Walkerton, who is a sis- ter of the bride. The bridesmaids were Susan Bridge, RR 1, Ford- wich, sister of the groom; Lynette Weber, Waterloo, cousin of the bride; and Valerie Quanz, Mildmay, cousin of the groom. They wore pink and white flocked velvet on nylon, over a deep pink taffeta floor -length gown, fashioned in a peasant style with long sleeves. They wore floppy brimmed pink hats adorned with a large 'pink rose. They carried white daisies and baby's breath. The best man was Glen Birk of RR 2, Palmerston. The ushers were Kevin Bridge of RR 2, Palmerston, Gordon Sotherra of RR 1, Fordwich and Brian Weber of Walkerton. The bride's mother wore a blue polyester floor -length gown with long sheer sleeves trimmed with pearls and rhinestones. She wore a corsage of pink carnations. The groom's mother wore a yellow polyester floor -length gown fashioned with a cape, trimmed with pearls. Her cor- sage was white carnations with orange tips. The reception was held at the Walkerton Community Centre. For a wedding trip to Kingston, The Thousand talandc Morris - burg and Niagara Falls, the bride wore a navy blue knee-length dress with brown accessories and a corsage of white stephanotis. Out-of-town guests attended from Ottawa, Niagara Falls, Kit- chener and Toronto. The couple will be residing at 265 Main St. Listowel. 'For free bus transportation call 357-1390 RUMMAGE SALE—A rummage sale, sponsored by the Salvation Army, drew a large number of people to the Orange Hall in Wingham last Saturday to look over the offerings. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Jackson -will reside in Harriston Mr. and Mrs. Bruce C. Jackson travelled to the West Coast fol- lowing their marriage Saturday, June 18, in the Corrie United Church. They plan to make their home in Harriston. Mrs. Jackson was formerly Carol Anne Behrns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William, Behrns, RR 1, Wroxeter. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. William Jackson of Harriston. Rev. Wes- ley Ball performed the evening ceremony and .Mrs." Jolfn Free • - man provided wedding music ,on the organ. Orange and yellow flowers and lighted yellow tapers in candelabra provided the color- ful setting. Given 'in marriage by her parents, the bride chose a floor- lenth gown of light leaf polyester brocade styled with fitted bodice and midriff and turnback pointed collar. The full.gathered skirt featured an attached train and the full-length chapel sleeves were trimmed with .lace as was the collar. A wide -brimmed hat, accented by a single rose cor- sage, completed her ensemble and she carried a hand bouquet of pink carnations and roses. Miss Bonnie Behrns of RR 1, Wroxeter, was her sister's maid of honor and bridesmaids were Helen Jerke of Edmonton and Rhea Behrns; sister of the, brideae, Their dresses were polyester knit styled similar to the bridal gown but with short plain sleeves. The sofa colors of green, robin egg blue and apricot enhanced the church setting. Ron Stewart of'. Drew was groomsman. and guests were ushered by Randy Douglas and Kevin Pike, both of Harriston. Mission theme Afternoon Unit BELGRAVE — The Afternoon Ur. f of the traw held their meet- ing on June 27th in the church, basement, The theme of the meeting was "As we have there- fore .opportunity let us do good unto all men". Mrs. Coultes opened the meet- ing with the hymn "Lord Speak to Me that 1 May Speak". Everyone repeated the prayer for the "Mis- sion of the church" from the Service Book. Mrs. Willard Armstrong read the minutes of the last meeting. Mrs. Hibberd -is to be in charge of sending out the cards to the sick and shut-ins. Mrs. Coultes was in charge of the Bible study, "Mis- sioners of the King" Mrs Hib- berd and Mrs. Anderson read scripture passages relating to the sending out of the disciples. The hymn "Take My Life and Let It Be" was sung. Mrs. Walter Scott traced the story of our mis- sionaries from early times down to the present. Mrs William Fen- ton read a paper.on today's In- dian children. There will be a birthday party on August 9 at 2 p.m In the Sunday School room for all who have celebrated their 80th birth- days. Friends and relatives are invited to attend this party The meeting closed with prayer by Ars. Cecil Coultes. Following the ceremom a reception was held at the Wing - ham Legion Hall . where the bride's cake, a four -layer heart - shaped cake trimmed with pink roses to thatch those in the bridal bouquet, .occupied a place • of honor. Guests attended . from Kitchener.Waterloo, Harriston, Mount Forest, Brampton, Orangeville, Listowel, Wingham, Edmonton, Nobleford, Alberta, Kirkland Lake, Clifford, Han - rover, Elmwood; Rothsay, Gorrie, Fordwich, Lucknow, Goderich and Drayton. The bride's mother wore a floor -length sleeveless A-line gown of cerise polyester knit. The groom's mother chose a floor - length A-line gown of pale blue polyester knit. The bride is a graduate of the F. 'E. Madill Secondary School, Wingham. Wed 25 years WHITECHURCH — A celebra- tion was . held ,Thursday evening in the Community Memorial Hall, hosted by Kathy, Lorie and Kendra Purdon, in honor of the 25th wedding anniversary of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Purdon. The evening was spent dancing to music by Tiffin's Orchestra. A large crowd of friends and relatives was in attendance from Listowel, Brantford, Brampton, London, Elora, Fergus and El- mira. Among them were her mo- ther, Mrs. Webster Jacklin of Listowel ; his mother, Mrs. Hazel Purdon, Lucknow; and an uncle of Mrs. Purdon. Mr. and Mrs. Purdon received many gifts and cards with money. A smorgasbord lunch was served, after which Mr. and Mrs. Purdon thanked everyone for honoring them with their attend- ance, gifts, cards and best wishes; WHITECHURCH After spending a week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Conn, Mr. and Mrs. George Conn and family returned Saturday to Sherbrooke. Mrs. Earl Caslick was able to leave Wingham and District Hos- pital on Tuesday last and go to her apartment in Wingham. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Hunter and Trevor were weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Mac Arm- strong and Elaine of Culross.
