Church has conducted several
very successful "Welsh Country
Fayres". The one held Saturday
was certainly no exception. The
various 'stalls and smorgasbord

STUDENTS SUCCESSFUL
Students at Seaforth District
High School found out first hand
what it is like to run a cafeteria_
They earned a profit of over
$3,000. A nutritionist sent to the
school by the ministry of health
was pleased with the menu. Prin-
cipal B. F. Shaw said the educa-
tional and financial success of the
cafeteria exceeded expectations.

REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS FOR CABLE
TELEVISION SERVICE TO SERVE CERTAIN
AREAS OF SOUTHWESTERN, ONTARIO
The Canadian Radio -television and Telecommunications Com-
mission announces that it is prepared to receive applications
to provide cable television service for:
1) Existing unlicensed communities within the area of over-
lapping Grade B contours of:
CBET Windsor and CKCO-TV-3 Oil Springs, CFPL London and
CKCO Kitchener or CKCO-.TV-3 Oil Springs, CKNX Wingham
and CKCO-TV Kitchener or CKCO-TV-2 Wiarton, CBLT Toronto
and CKCO-TV Kitchener,
2) Windsor, Ontario.
Applications should be filed on or before September 6, 1977,
All applicants planning the use of microwave must submit
details of routes and costs. In particular applicants should submit
the following:
a) ,Where microwave is to be provided by a common carrier,
a copy of an agreement in principle between the common
carrier and the applicant should be submitted. Details of
any proposals by common carriers for the use of microwave,
''the cost of the service and charges levied by the common
carrier should also be included. In the event that the
application pertains to an existing or proposed microwave
network all details relating to cost sharing arrangements
with other applicants or licensees which are, or are propos-
ing to, participate in the network must be provided.
b) Where microwave is to be provided by an applicant, or
the applicant proposes the use of privately -owned non -
common carrier microwave facilities, the application must
include detailed information on all microwave costs. In the
event that such a proposal invokes mare than one cable tele-
vision undertaking or proposed undertaking . all details
relating to cost sharing arrangements with other applicants
or licensees which are, or are proposing to, participate in
the arrangement must be provided.
c) The applications must include full details as to the site of
the distant headend and the proposed microwave routing.
Detailed costs relating to the establishment ‘and/or use of
the , distant heodend facility, 'as well as any .agreements
pertaining to the establishment and/or yse of the facility
must be provided.
d) All applications mist indicate the installation and monthly
subscriber fee including the cost of microwave.service.
The Commission will not consider any cable television appli-
cations which are predicated on the video-taping of tele-
vision signals unless all of the'nbcessary authorizations have
been received in writing and filed with the Commission.
Persons wishing to apply are reminded of the eligibility
requirements laid down by the Governor General in Council
in Directions to the Commission, Orders in Council, P.C.
1969-2229 as omended, P.C. 1971.37,• P.C. '1972-1569 and P.C.
1975-342. The Commission expects to consider any application'
meeting these eligibility requirements.
Potential applicants are also reminded that in the Commission's
past decisions and policy announcements the Commission hos
required that licensees have effective ownership and control of
local headends, amplifiers and drops in their cable television
undertakings.
The applicants attention is drawn to the new Cable Television
Regulations which became effective April 1, 1976 and the
Policies Respecting Broadcasting Receiving Undertakings doted
December 15, 1975 issued by the Commission. Applicants should''
Indicate how they would comply with regulations and policies.
The Commission firmly believes that cable television must com-
plement existing broadcasting services in southwestern Ontario
and should not jeopardize their present ot�future capability.
Hence, cable television applications must outline specific
measures for introducing the cable television into areas in a
manner that will assist and strengthen these services and help
to achieve the broadcasting objectives set out in the Broad-
casting Act.
As well, upon hearing applications for the locations -in question,
the Commission will request:
a) The licensees of the local television broadcasting stations
whose A or B contours fall within the territories applied
for pursuant to this announcement to file such documentary
evidence and to make suc representations as they confider
necessary concerning the robably effect of the licensing of
cable television undert ings within these service contours
on th continued vi ity of such stations, and '
b) The licensees of local television stations and each cable
60plicant to explain the actions token or proposed to be
taken individually and cooperatively to ensure the continu•
ing availability and quality of 'off air television service.
The Commission will announce at a later date the time and

The particulars of each application will also be published in
the newspapers of the area proposed to be served.
The public will then have the opportunity to submit comments
on any application by filing o written intervention with the
undersigned and by giving o copy to the applicant at least
fifteen (15) days before the Hearing.'

recent canvass for the Red Shield

TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING
AT OWEN SOUND

The Council was established by the Minister of Natural Resources
to assist the Government in the preparation of a recreational
trails programme. This Council is an'autonomous group., com-
posed of members of the public who represent hiking, snow-
mobili ng, bicycling,'cross-country skiing, canoeing, motorized
trail bike and horseback riding interests. The Council also
includes memberships from trail related interests such as
private individuals, conservationists and agriculturalists'.
The purpose of this public meeting'is to receive briefs and to
hold informal discussions with all interested individuals and
groups. The Trails Council actively seeks the support of the
public in the identification of preseht issues, conflicts, and
solutions to the development of a Provincial Trails Programme.
The amount of time allocated for each presentation will be •
governed by the total number of briefs submitted. It is therefore
requested that only one brief per organization or person be
