Funeral Friday
for J. C. Cooke
Funeral service was held Fri-
day at two o'clock at the R. A.
Currie and Son Funeral Home for
John Charles (Jack) Cooke of
Wingham: Capt. Bruce Hardy of
the Salvation Army conducted
the service and interment
followed in Wingham Cemetery.
* Pallbearers were John
Keeling, Glen Ruttan, Calvin
Burke, Carl Casemore, Douglas
Casemore . and Stephen Burke.
Floral tributes were carried by
,Connie Burke, Sheila Burke and
Karen Casemore.
Mr.. Cooke passed away in
Huronview, Clinton, on Tuesday,
June 21, -following a brief illness.
He waS,in his 75th ,year. Born in
•Wingham on August '19, 1902, he
was. a son' of 'the late Charles
Cooke and Lamina Lotigheed. He
attended the Wingham • Public
School and worked all his life as a
laborer, retiring in 1968. He was a
member of tie -Salvation Army,.
Mr. Cooke never married.'He is
survived by one sister, Mrs.`The.-
mas (Eleanor) Burke- of Huron -
view, formerly of Wingham; one
brother, Cecil of London; several
nieces and nephews. He was pre-
deceasedby one sister, Mrs. Gor-
don (Alma) Wray. "
Mrs. O'Connor
was native of
Turnberry Twp.
The death occurred in the
Wingham and District Hospital
on Thursday, June 23, of Mrs.
Jerry O'Connor of RR 1, Wing -
ham, formerly of Goderich and
Kirigsbridge. She was in her 89th
year and death followed a brief
illness.
Born in Turnberry Township on
November 26,' 1888, Mrs. O'Con-
nor was the former Catherine
McKinnon, a daughter of the late
John McKinnon and Mary Ken-
nedy. She received her education
in Turnberry. She married Mr.
O'Connor in Sacred Heart
Church, Wingham, in '1919, and
they farmed in Ashfield Town-
ship after their marriage. He
predeceased her in 1955. She was
also predeceased by brothers
Angus, Hugh, Alex and John;
sisters Mrs. Kitty Crowe, Mrs.
Mary Austin, Mrs. Sara Skinn,
Mrs. Maggie Sproal, Mrs. Mary
Lannan and Mrs. Margaret Kil-
gallin.
Surviving are one sister, Miss
Annie McKinnon of RR 1, Wing -
ham; several nieces and
nephews.
Mrs. O'Connor was a member
of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic
Church, Wingham, and the
Catholic Women's League.
Funeral Mass was conducted in
the church Monday morning at
10:30 by Rev. A. Sonderup, with
interment following in St. Jo-
seph's Cemetery, Kiingsbridgge,
The R. A. Currie and Son Funeral
Horne was in charge of arrange-
ments.
Pallbearers were Cyril Austin,
Donald Frayne, Harold Sieman,
L. G. Bryce, Gordon Francis and
Jim Rutter. Paul Lannan carried
floral tributes.
Family prayers were recited
Sunday evening at nine o'clock at
the funeral home.
