the Annual Fish Derby for
handicapped children was held
June 5 at the Wingham Sports -
I's Club. About 55 children
teem Palmerston and Wingham
areas attended.
Prizes were awarded to those
catching the largest fish and the
greatest amount of fish. Winners'
names were not available.

English had received the Glen
Swan Memorial Trophy at the
bowling banquet. Lt should, of
course have been the Gwen Swan
Memorial Trophy. Our sincere

THE SENIOR CANADETTE Dance and Twirl Team has won seven trophies for their
talent, including second in the Southern Ontario Championships and second in the all -On-
tario Championships. Four of these girls also compose the Canadette Twirl Team and
they have won seconds and first al the Spring Festival in Hespeler, On June 24 and 25 the
teams are off to the Canadian National Twirling Championships in Thornhill. Bottom row,

organization we are unable to support
individual concerns within the community.
We were not opposed to their application
but could not send a representative on
their behalf due to our position as a
community organization.

The Brophy Queens Midget
Girls' fastball team got off to a
good. start this season, opening
their schedule with two straight
wins.
The girls travelled to Neustadt
Monday night and, with some fine
hurling from Kathy Cruickshank,
defeated the Neustadt girls 31-14.
Sunday night the Brophy
Queens won a real thriller 20-19
before a large crowd of local fans
at their own park.
Patty Brophy and Lynn Bridge
led the hitting with triples. Chris
Orien came up with a nice catch
in centre field and Ruth Cooper
had two dazzling grabs in right
field to spark the defence.
Esther Nethery hit a long ball
to left field that had 'home run'
written all over it, but missed
second base on her dash for
home. Three runs scored before
her, as the bases were loaded:

In a rematch of last weeks'
game, the Wingham Juvenile
Girls hosted their counterparts
from Clinton.
Sunday's contest was a close,
well -played game, with the host
,team winning 15-19. •
Leading the offense for the
Wingham team was their short-
stop Kathy Cruickshank. Kathy
hit a single,. a bases -loaded
double and -jumped on•lhe first
pitch in the bottom of the ninth
inning for a home run to break a
