BALL
As you have noticed, the ball
diamond on Josephine Street has
been a busy one almost any night
of the week. On Saturday,,May
28, the Boys T -Ball commenced
another season with over 70
enthusiastic players out to try
Their hand at batting and throw-
ing. If that is any indication of the
future for ball in town, there
should be championship teams in
the near future.
The schedules for the various
teams in the minor ball associa-
tion are as follows.

On May 28 a pool staff course
was held at F. E. Madill high
school, This included staffs from
Wingham, Goderich, Mount
Forest and Kincardine.
Rather than dealing with topics
regarding swimming strokes and
how to teach them, we dealt with
the human relation side of staff qu
work. Staff relations, public rela- th
tions, the seriousness of the job,' c
were topics that headed the list of th
discussion for the day.

Ball hockey is basically a
running and passing game, and
any players involved in fighting
or rough play are automatically
suspended from .tournament
play. The event is sponsored by
the Provincial Ball Hockey Asso-
ciation and rule books are avail-
able from the Association free of
charge.
Tournament organizors are
hoping for about 50 teams from
Southern Ontario. In past years,
teams from all over Metropolitan
Toronto, as well as Oshawa,
Mississauga, Oakville, Bronte,
Burlington, Hamilton, Guelph,
Milton, Kitchener, Vaughan and
Waterloo have competed.
Several Toronto -area gyms
have been booked for the event,
and gyms in other centres are
soon to be scheduled, depending
on the number and location of en-
tries.
'The cost of entering the tourna-
ment is $30 per team, which is
used to pay for gym rental, re-
ferees, and trophies. The PBHA
is a non-profit organization.
The deadline for entries is June
14, so entrants must hurry. For

gram: Diane McCortnick was on
of the three Homemaking Club
members selected from all
across the province to represent
Ontario at the National 4-H Citi-
zenship Seminar in Ottawa from
April 30 to May 4.
Diane is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs, Harold McCormick, RR
2, Wingham. Her 4-H work is al-
ways topnotch and she is held in
high regard by her fellow mem-
bers and leaders. This past club,
"Focus on Living", Diane was
assistant leader of Teeswater No.
4. She has successfully completed
14 -projects as a member and was
a delegate to Western Fair in
1975.
The conference participants
represented all the provinces of
Canada with three Homemaking
nd three Agricultural Club
members from Ontario. There
were 42 girls and 17 fellows in
total. The seminar is sponsored
by the Canadian Council on 4-H,
with member groups assuming
financial responsibility for some
parts of the program - the Cana-
dian Imperial Bank of Com-
merce, Agriculture Canada,
Bank of Nova Scotia, Gulf Oil
Canada Ltd., Carnation Co. Ltd.,
,Canadian Federation of Agricul-
ture and Ketchum Mfg. Sales
Ltd. hosted various banquets and
theatre at the National Arts Cen-
tre.
Discussion topics included. -
A Canadian's Rights and Res-
ponsibilities", "The Political
Process - Putting Your Rights
and Responsibilities to Work", to
name a couple. Tours of the
House of Commons, the City of
Ottawa, the National Museum
and Art Gallery and a reception
by the Governor General com-
pleted the program.

The Blyth Summer Festival '77
will be conducting its summer
subscription campaign from May
16 to July 1. „
This summer there will be six
shows to choose from including:
"A Summer Burning" by Harry
J. Boyle, twice winner of the
Stephen Leacock award for
humor; a revival of last year's
smash hit, "The Bood is Strong",
by Lister Sinclair; "The Blyth
Memorial History Show", by Jim
Schaefer; and "The Shortest Dis-
tance Between Two Points" by
Keith Roulston.
In addition two shows will be
. coming up from Petrolia entitled
"Artichoke" by Joanna Glass
and "Man With a Load of Mis-
chief" by Ben Tarver.
Between May 16 and July 1, six
tickets will .be offered 'for . the
price of five. Subscription costs
are: adults, $18; senior citizens,
$15; ;and children, $13.

NEW APARTMENTS
Seaforth will be getting a new
eight unit apartment building in
the future. It will have six . two
bedroom and two one bedroom
units, carpeted throughout. The
apartment units Willbe, going up
where Seaforth's original hos-
pital stood. The old frame house
served as hospital from 1921 to
1931 and in recent years had been
divided into apartments.
