Mr. and Mrs. George Brown
spent the weekend at Dunkirk,
N.Y.
There were 12,180 mineral
claims recorded in the NWT in
1974. In addition, 39 prospecting
permits were granted covering
approximately • seven million
acres of mining land. This was an
increase of 105 per cent over 1973.

WI hold 75th
annual meeting
MONCRIEFF—The; 75th dis-
trict annual meeting of the Huron
East Women's Institute was held
on Tuesday, May 10 at the Mon-
crieff Hall. -
There were about 80 people in
attendance which included 11
past presidents. The officers of
the district were also present
which included: past president,
Mrs. Mac Allan", Wroxeter; presi=
dent, Mrs. John Freeman,
Gorrie; first vice-president, Mrs.
Marjorie Humphreys, Walton;
second vice-president, Mrs. Ruth
Harding, Fordwich;' secretary,
Mrs. Lloyd .Jacques,. Gorrie;
board member, Mrs. Ken Mc-
Donald, Walton; and public rela-
tions officer, Mrs. William Dob-
son, .Et;tiel,
Mrs. Freeman presided over
the all -day affair. The guest
speaker was Mrs. Austin Zoeller,
editor of Home and Country.
The Moncrieff ladies served
dinner to those present,

Mr. and Mrs. Les Watkins and
little daughter off Bolton were
weekend visitors with Mrs. Eva
Harris.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Car-
swell spent Saturday at Elmira.
Peter King and Jim Hadley
were both able to return to their
homes last week ,after being
'patients in Listowel Memorial
Hospital.
Mr. 'and .Mrs. Bob Petznick of
Kitchener spent the weekend at
their home here.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Dinsmore
and the girls moved Saturday to
the farm they recently purchased
from Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sander-
son. The Sanderson family also
moved Saturday into the village
to the home they had purchased
from the Dinsmores.'
Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Johnson
attended the funeral Thursday of
their brother-in-law, George,
Hunt. The service was held in the
Anglican Church, Palmerston.
