Church, met on Tuesday, May 10,
at the home of Mrs. James
Coultes. Mrs. Robert Grasby
conducted the worship with the
theme "The Gift of Speech", and
read the scripture.
It was decided that the ladies
would serve the Mother and'
May 25 at 7 p.m. Discussion about
selling the manse was held.
Mrs. Cliff Logan conducted the
program and her topic was
"Needs and Feelings of Handi-
capped Persons," by Jean Van-
ier. The meeting closed with a
social time.

in Wingham lawyer's talk
BELGRAVE—The Resolutions
meeting of the Belgrave Wo-
men's Institute was held Tues-
day, May 17 at 8:15 p.m. in the
Belgrave WI Hall. Mrs. Stanley
Black was convener and had a
Wingham lawyer, Robert Camp-
bell as guest speaker.
Mr. Campbell gave a very
informative talk on wills and the
necessity of making wills. He
cited instances where wills would
save money and "red rape" for
both lawyer and clients.
He also spoke on consumer
protection and the problems with
some "door-to-door" salesmen
and advised the audience to read
all contracts very carefully
before signing them. He answer-
ed several questions raised by the
group and 'all thought it was a

meeting of Huron, West, District
WI will be held in Wesley Willis
United Church; Clinton, Monday
May 30. The theme is "A Great
Idea Lives On" and •registration
begins at 9 a.m. with the morning
session starting at 9:45.
Mrs. Ivan Wightman will pre-
side at this meeting and Mrs.
Harold Biasing, Neustadt, Pro-
vincial Convener, Family and
Consumer Affairs, will be guest
speaker in the afternoon. Reports
of the standing .committees and
entertainment will also be fea-
tured.
All Women's Institute mem-

the group by singing, "Will the
Circle Be Unbroken?" and "Four
Strong Winds". She provided her
own accompaniment on the
guitar.
Mrs. James Hunter presented
an interesting report on Officers'
Conference; expressing her grati-
tude for' the opportunity to go.
Mrs. Leonard James presided
for the opening and welcomed all
to the meeting. Mrs. Ross
Higgins read the minutes,.finan-
cial statement ' and • correspon-
dence.
The\memorial service will be
held .in . Brandon Cemetery on
Sunday, July 3, with .Trinity
Anglican Church in charge. The
Grade "VIII graduation 'banquet
will be held June 23, and the
supper committee is Mrs. Wil-
liam Fenton, Mrs. Stanley Black
and Mrs. Walter Scotts
A donation was given to East
Wawanosh Public Schoolto be
used for awards for the students.,

Mr. and Mrs: Tiffin
celebrate 50 years
WHITECHIJRCH — ' Mr. and
Mrs. Wesley Tiffin celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary in
the Memorial Hall last Saturday.
The couple welcomed all guests
at the door. Many old friends of
the couple were present including
Mr. and Mrs. Rhys Pollock of -
Jacksonville, Florida.
Tiffin's Orchestra supplied
music for dancing. Crystal
Henderson looked after registra-
tion. Lunch was served smorgas-
'board style. •
After lunch Mr. and Mrs. Tiffin
were presented with a box of
cards and money. Mrs. Janet
Hall gave words of welcome and
read an address to the couple.,
Mr, and Mrs. Tiffin replied,
thanking everyone for the cele-
bration. All sang "For They Are
Jolly Good Fellows",
Dancing resumed for the rest of
the evening. . Paul Laidlaw
favored with a couple of songs
during the evening.
Meal prices are to be raised 25
cents per plate after July 1st.
Thanks was expressed to the
caretaker for scrubbing the hall.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Ross
Taylor, Mrs. Hazel Procter and
Mrs. Norman Coultes at the
eeonclusion of the meeting.

BLUEVALE — Rogation Sun-
day was observed at the United
Church, on Sunday morning with
Rev. Wilena ' Brown in charge.
Special prayers for "A Summer\
Sunday" and for "Ourselves and'
Others" were given. .
The children's 'time and the
"Asking" 'of Rogation Sunday,
with participants Miss Emma
Johnston and Carl Johnston, took
place before the regular Sunday
School session.
The report on London Confer-
ence held at' Sarnia last week
with the minister, Mrs. Max De-
maray and Mrs. Bill Peacock
taking part, was given. Mrs. De-
maray reported on some of the
resolutions which were presented
and Mrs. Peacock told of the
ordination serviceand reception
held the final evening of the Con-
ference at which Bluevale's for-
mer student minister, Larry
King, was ordained. Mr. King
was presented with a stole from
Bluevale congregation.'

Orillia where they went fishing
and caught a lot of fish. On the
way home they called on Mr. and

countries and ended his address'
with a film and an interesting dis-
play of items 'collected on his
travels.',

tesies . by Mrs. Harry Levis of
South Kinloss. Closing prayer
was by Mrs, Ralph Nixon, Wing -
ham.
The fall board meeting will be
held in Belmore on September 19
at 2 p.m. The Biennial Con-
ference is to take place on beton

sided at the organ for the hymns
and musical numbers.
The meeting ;opened with in-
vocation by Mrs. Don Robertson,
president, followed by devotions
by the Brussels group. -Mrs.
Matheson read the Scripture,
meditation was given by Mrs.
Innes, followed by prayer by Mrs.
Mair.
Mrs. John . de Boer welcomed
everyone to Chalmers.. The
minutes of the last meeting were
read by Mrs. Ewen MacLean and
approved. Mrs. Don MacAdam
read the correspondence and the
treasurer's report was given by
Mrs. Evan Keith. Rev. Gentle of
Southampton brought greetings
from Presbytery.
A vocal duet by Mrs. H. S.
Wardrop and Mrs. William Gib-
son was much enjoyed.
Honorary membership certifi-
cates were presented to Mrs.
Lloyd Felker •by Mrs. George
MacDonald, both. of Molesworth,
and to 'Mrs. Don Robertson by
Mrs. Tom MacDonald, both .of
Kinlough. Mrs. Felker and Mrs.
'Robertson thanked the socieites
most graciously.
Mrs. J. W.- English introduced
Frank Whilsmith, guest speaker,\'
telling of his work .with the
various organizations and , the
offices 'he has held.
Mr. Whilsmith took as his topic
"Youth", in connection with the
theme. He spoke of the• chal-
lenges of today's youth, demon-
strations, etc., economic. freedom
and the seeking of religious free- '
dom. "We must be strong intel-
lectually and morally, also in
faith and religion," he said. In 70
per cent of the world, socialism is
being sought.
The speaker praised the great
work of the Hollywood Presby-
terian Church which sent out 500'
to 600 young people to witness and
tell of the love of Jesus Christ;
and rpade the film, "Living the
Jesus Way", which did so much
good.
Mrs. Nugent of Ripley con-
ducted the In Memoriam service,
The delegates to the Synodical
in Stratford, Mrs. Gibson of
Molesworth; Mrs. P. Steer, South
Kinloss; Mrs. G. Mundell, Blue -
vale; and Mrs. Joe Martin of
Brussels, each gave an excellent
report.
The offering was accepted and
Mrs. K. Dickson,.Belmore, gave
the offertory prayer. After sing-
ing a hymn, closing prayer was
given by Mrs. Burton of Kin-
cardine.
The ladies of Chalmers served
a bountiful and delicious supper
in the Community Memorial
Hall.
The evening session began with
an organ prelude by Mrs. Don
Ross, followed by a hymn. Devo-
tions were taken by the Lucknow
Evening group, scripture by Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. John Inglis of
Toronto, Mrs. Margaret Inglis of
Walkerton and Mr. and Mrs: Jim
Seegmiller and family of Mild-
may were weekend visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Inglis.
Warm 'weather and a long
weekend filled the Lakelet camp
site.
George Grigg visited Saturday
evening with Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Robinson of St. Augustine. Mr.
Robinson has recently returned
home after undergoing surgery in
London. Sunday guests at "Mrs.
Johnston's home were Mrs. Clar-
ence Ritchie of second con-
cession, Kinloss, and her daugh-
ter, Mrs. Barbara Arkell.
—Four members of the CGIT
were presented with gifts as they
graduated from the organization
Tuesday evening of last week at
the mother and daughter banquet
in St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church. Leader Miss Marg Nute
presented the gifts to Joanne
Wood, Debbie Hanula, Pam
Gerrie and Lori Kopas. The four
girls also gave the valedictory
address wherein they told of ex-
periences shared as members of
the group and warm friendships
formed during the various acti-
vities. Attendance awards were
presented to Caryn Maim and
Arlene Willis.

spoke on the Silver Jubilee, the
anniversary of the coronation of
Queen Elizabeth II, at the morn-
,ing worship service in St. And-
rew's Presbyterian Church on
Sunday. He chose scripture from
the first epistle of Peter. Flowers
were placed on the . communion
table in memory of Mrs. Joseph
Smith by her husband and
family.
