The club will offer the community a truly fun filled weekend spanning four days of events and festivities and hopes to constantly up- grade the 1st off July Holiday Weekend by having other clubs and organizations, whether business, commun- ity or social join in. The weekend will kick off with a 32 team 3 -Pitch ball tournament commencing Friday June 29 at 6 p.m. This tournament offers over $3,400 in cash and prizes with $1„000 cash going to the Grand Champions (the larg- est prize money tournament in Southwestern Ontario for 32 teams). Cash will also be paid to the winner after each game with the remaining cash and prizes. being distri- buted to the grand champion and consolation finalists. Friday night feature is an outside parking lot dance. This event will be located be- tween the Arthur Curling Club and the Arena Com- munity Hall on the parking lot beginning at 9:00 p.m. Featured will be three live local bands, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Running in conjunction to the parking lot dance will be miniature mechanical horseraces, Friday 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Saturday, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Mon- day, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This event will show horse racing at its best, miniature best that is. Good fun and en- joyment for young and old and bring your camera -for those photo finishes. The Opti -Wheel -Of -For- tune will be operating for those who would like to get rich quick. Both events will be locatedbehind the arena complex next to the parking lot dance. On Saturday, June 30th the Festivities continue starting at 8:00 a.m. with the ball. .tournament. Featured for Saturday night is a.dance be- ing held at 9:00.p.m. in the community arena to the music and talent of Ronnie Prophet. Ronnie has been Juno Award Winner two years in a row as well as other awards. Lucky tickets will be drawn for the annual , Meatbraw. Other Saturday events in- clude: A 36, two-man team horseshoe tournament com- mencing at 1:00 p.m. and children's •activities begin- ning at 10:00 a.m. including a bike rodeo, fish pond, movies, magic show provid- ed by the Basham Academy. of Magic, Hamilton, and pony rides. A salad supper (sponsored by the Arthur Opti -Mrs) at 5:00 p.m. is followed by a talent show, 7:30-8:30 featur- ing children and young adults of all ages. Sunday's highlight will . feature a Bicentennial Fire- works display commemora- tirigOntario's 200th Birthday at approximately 9:00 p.m. •preceded by a parachute drop sponsored by the Para- chute Club of Toronto, and the completion of the 3 -Pitch ball tournament where final- ists will have been determin- ed by 6:00 p.m. On Monday, an 8 team ball hockey tournament begins at 8:00 a.m. At 10:00 a.m. the battle of the Arthur service Club Stars '84 will be taking place. This event will.deter- mine Service Club Supre- macy and is likely to be "THE" event of the year. At 1:00 p.m. there will be a mini -tractor pull sanctioned by the Ontario Little Tractor Puller Association, featuring classes for stock and modi- fied lawn and garden trac- tors.
