The BPs lost to Caledonia
by a 6-3 count as J. Timson
belted out two home runs to
score five runs. Caledonia
scored three runs in the first
inning with Timson belting a
two -run homer, before his
brother Rick singled in the

one in the third, but blew
their chances as they made
two errors leading off the
eighth inning and allowing
two men aboard. Timson

It was a very productive
weekend for the BPs as they

disastrous start in Bluewater
league action.

BPs were in desperate need
¢i'i a win going into the
Brodhagen Fastball Tour-
nament this past weekend
following the team's worst -
ever start in the Bluewater
Fastball League.
Winless so far this season,
the club needed a victory to
build up moral-. The first
game of the tournament did
not boost spirits whatsoever,
as the BPs dropped the
opening game by a 5-1 count
to Alma.
But the BPs came back,
playing the kind of ball they
customarily play during
tournament action. It ap-
pears the BPs like to do
• things the hard way, losing
early they playing tough
when the threat of
elimination looms over their
heads. The team. went on to
capture second spot in. the
tournament.
, ALMA 5, WINGHAM 1
In the tournament opener,
the BPs opened the scoring
as Ron Smith led off.the first '
inning with a solo home run.
That proved to be the only
run the BPs would score and
was one of only six hits in the
game.
Alma struck back in its
half of the inning to score all
five of its run by virtue of a
five -hit attack. Both teams
were then shut down of-
fensively, and the final score
remained 5-1.
WINGHAM 3,
KITCHENER 1
In the second game the
BPs defeated Kitchener 3-1
with Dave Burns picking up
the win, firing a three -hit
performance. Bob Pegg
provided the team with the
game -winning run by
pounding a solo home run out
of the park in the fifth inning.
Pegg also scored the first
run of the game as Bill
Brown scored from third
base when Pegg was thrown
out at first on a ground ball
hit to the short stop.
Brown doubled earlier in
the inning, then went to third
on a sacrifice by Glen
Gallaher. Bill Robinson
scored the other BP run after
