sponsoring an essay and
poetry contest. This is an
invitation to all senior
citizens to sharpen their
pencils and create a short
essay or poem on what it's
like to be a senior citizen in
1984.
The contest deadline will
be ,June 29. For more in-
formation call 357-1440 and
remember "We all have a lot

The 21st of June is the date
of our annual meeting and
fifth birthday party. We are
celebrating the fact that a
seniors' day centre has been
established in this com-
munity for five years. Please
reply to our invitations and
join us June 21.
Our day trip to
Hawkesville and the Kit-
chener stockyards and
farmers' market last week
was a success. The fine
weather, good food and great
bargains at the market all
helped to satisfy the par-
ticipants in the first day trip
of the year.
The next day trip probably
will be to the Blyth Summer
Festival to see the play
"Garrison's Garage" Julys.
More details will be
available at a later date.
The next foot c)inic`at the
centre will be next Wed-
nesday from 1 to 3 p.m. For
an appointment, please call
the centre.
Students who haven't yet
found a summer job might
possibly be interested in
some volunteer work at the
day centre. If your future
career involves the field of
medicine, recreation, social
work or any other people -
oriented career, please
consider this opportunity.
Now that summer is "just
around the corner", the
variety of fruits and
vegetables that are, available
has increased. The key to
healthy eating in the senior
years is to eat less food than
you used to, but to emphasize
nutritious foods. Take ad-
vantage of the great variety
of foods that 'are available
now.'
Healthy eating habits' can
help,proy, de you with enemy
find That good feeling.
