ROALD DAHL'S BOOK OF
GHOST STORIES. Aca-
demic Press Canada,
Toronto. 210 pp. $17.95.
Reviewed by
PERCY MADDUX
An author of fiction him-
self, Roald Dahl has read
hundreds of ghost stories. He
selected only 14 of them, in-
cluding an excerpt from a
Victorian novel, to offer us in
his. volume "Roald Dahl's
Book of Ghost Stories".
This is a very effectivecol-
‘lection, although the ghosts
do not appear in traditional
form, often not at all, but the
book does not go to theother
extreme of having nothing
ghostly in the stories, as is
often the case with modern
ghost stories, which are so
vague that the reader has no
idea of -what they are about.
The stories in this collect-
ion are all highly readable
and in most cases end leav-
ing the reader with an under-
standing of what happened.
Masquerading ,moths
Some moths, particularly
in tropical areas, are bright-
ly colored and fly by day,
characteristics usually asso-
ciated with butterflies. Also,
a few moths fold their wings
together above their back
while resting, as most but-
terflies do.
