He has been a patient there for awhile and he also recently celebrated his 93rd birthday. Friends in the, Fordwich area extend best Wishes to him and also wish him a very speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wendt of Toronto were weekend guests with Mrs. E. A. Schaefer. Friends here will be sorry to learn Mrs. Edgar Gedcke is a patient in Listowel hospital and we also wish her a speedy recovery. (Staff Photo) A former resident of East Wawanosh .Township, Miss Mabel Jane Montgomery, • passed away Tuesday, May ' 15, at Callander Nursing Home, Brussels, in her 90th year. A daughter of the late Thomas Montgomery and Elizabeth McMichael, Miss Montgomery was born in McLean, Saskatchewan, on June 6, 1894. The late Mabel Jane Montgomery rested at The Currie -Walker Funeral Home, Wingham, until Thursday, May 17, when private funeral and° com- mittal service was held at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Douglas Madge. Final resting place will -be Bran- don Cemetery, Belgrave. Information sessions on PCBs scheduled The Ontario Ministry of the Environment will hold a series of public information sessions in 18 communities across the province this spring, commencing May 24. The sessions are being held to provide, information related to a ministry canvass of public opinion on proposals to regulate the operation and siting of mobile facilities for the destruction of PCBs (poly- chlorinated biphenyls) . Proposed regulations set out the requirements under which mobile PCB destruction facilities will be permitted to locate and operate in communities in Ontario. The ministry wants public views before sub- mitting its proposals to a formal public hearing. A member of the ministry's PCB task force will be at all sessions to answer any questions. PCBs are a class of syn- thetic organic chemicals, formerly used extensively as an insulator in electrical Sudden death of O. Hastings shocks family and friends l�ras'Witt a deep sense of •s that family members and" friends learned of the sudden passi tg of Orvil Robert Hastings of RR 1, Wingham, on Wednesday, May 1,6, at Wingham and District Hospital. He was in his 57th year. Orvil Hastings was born at Wingham on April 16, 1928, a son of Mrs. Roy Hastings of Wingham, the former Margaret Ross, and the late Roy Hastings. He worked at Canada Packers early in his adult life and for the past several years had farmed on the ninth concession of Turnberry Township. Mr. Hastings always directed his ambitions to the betterment of his family and friends and will be deeply missed by his wife, the former Janie McInnes; two daughters, Mrs. Doug (Bev) Evans of Stratford and Mrs. Brian (Ruth) Latour, Wingham; and ane son, Jim of RR 1, Wingham. There are two grandchildren, Michelle and Dwayne Evans; two brothers, Bill Hastings off Kitchener and Ross Hastings, RR 2, Wingham; and one sister, Mrs. Ron (Vivian) Newton of Glan- worth. Friends paid their respects at The Currie -Walker Funeral Home, Wingham, until Saturday, May 19, when funeral service was con - equipment, which do not decompose readily and accumulate in living organisms. There are currently, no approved destruction facili- ties in Ontario and a growing inventory of PCBs is being stored in various ' locations around the province. Mobile destruction facilities could be brought directly to the communities where the bulk of PCB wastes are awaiting disposal. Of the 18 information - sessions scheduled across Ontario, one will be held at the Kitchener Public Library on May 28, another at the London City Hall on May 29 and one at the Bruce Town- ship Community Centre in Underwood on June 13.
