The an- nual meeting of the Belgrave Women's Institute was held in the Institute Hall on April. 17. The meeting -opened with the Ode, M8y •$tewart Collect and "0 Canada". Mrs. Norman Coultes; acting as president, welcomed everyone and read a poem called"Easter Meditation". The roll call was answered by payment of fees, and minutes of the last meeting were read by Mrs. Clar VanCamp. Members agreed to cater for the Grade 8 graduation dinner for students of East Wawanosh Public School. Guest speaker Mrs. Les Jacklin of Wingham gave an address on why people 'of Ontario. should be proud of this province, especially in this bicentennial year. The Women's Institute has been in existence 87 years of the .200. Mrs. Jacklin said that the Mary Stewart Collect has great meaning for all people around the world and con- cluded her. talk with a poem, "My Get Up and Go Has Got Up and Went". Mrs. Walter Scott brought the group up 'to date on the microfilming of the members meeting Tweedsmuir History Book and the secretary's books. This work is being done by the Huron County Library at Goderich. Minutes of the last annual Meeting were read by Mrs. VanCamp and Mrs. Jacklin installed the officers for 1984-85. Pennies for Friendship were collected and lunch was served by Mrs. Len James and Mrs. J. Schoebl. MRS. It was decided to hold a bake and prlantlsale May at 2 Last •Wediiesday four memberst, of the Institute traveled to Moncrief where District President Mrs. Peggy Cudmore installed the 1984-85 slate of officers. • Marie McTaggart in- stalled the Walton WI's slate of officers last Wednesday evening as well following their dinner at ij"ielibrary. A dessert euchre will be held at the Brussels Library Monday, April 30, at 7 p.m., the proceeds going to the cancer fund. - BRIDE HONORED Approximately 135 friends, neighbors and relatives gathered in the basement of Melville Presbyterian Church last Monday evening for a miscellaneous shower for Brenda Knight, May bride-to-be. Vicki McCall was in charge of the guest book and Mrs. Joanne King played the 6 piano while the guests arrived. Mrs. Mary Ten Pas introduced Miss Knight, her mother Donna, her grand- mother Mrs. Alexander, sister Karen and maid of honor Miss - McCall. Also introduced were the groom's mother, Mrs. Helen Wheeler, and Mrs. Steele from Scotland. The program consisted of a solo by Ruth Watts, ac- companied by Mrs. Karen Cardiff, a step dance number by Karen Shortreed and a poem by Mary Lynn Mayer which was composed by Mrs. Thomas. Carol Ten Pas played a selection on . the piano and sang a solo, ac- companied by Mrs. King. A friend of the bride, Donna White, composed and read a poem. An address by Susan Elliott brought the shower to a close and Miss Knight opened all her beautiful and useful gifts. She thanked everyone and lunch was served. BELGRAVE — Mrs. Cecil Coultes welcomed the mem- bers of the Afternoon Unit of Knox United Church to her home for the Easter meeting last Tuesday. Mrs. Earl Anderson open- ed the meeting with the theme, "Because He Lives We Too Shall Live". Mrs. Lawrence Taylor gave the treasurer's report.
