Mrs. Garniss ,was speaking at the April meeting of the Bl%evale United Church Women. The speaker added that MARRIED 60 YEARS—Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Moffat, former residents of Wingham and Wroxeter, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner March 25 at the Valhalla Inn, Kitchener. Mr. and Mrs. Moffat have four children, Mrs. Graham (Margaret) Work of Brussels, Calvin and Norma Moffat of Oakville, Mrs. George (Jeanne) Seegmiller of Waterloo and Mrs. Milo (Marney) Janecek of Kitchener. The Easter devotions were conducted by Mrs. Ed Stewart, leader of Unit Two, assisted by Mrs. Bert Hastings, Mrs. Lloyd Warwick, Mrs. Glen Sellers, Mrs. Harvey Edgar, Mrs. Bob Fraser and Mrs. Mel Craig. A bale is to be packed on May 16, donations to be left in the basement prior to that date. Several dinners are to be served to busloads of people attending the Blyth Summer Festival. A letter was read from the group's foster child who attends a Christian school in North Thailand, thanking the UCW for its help and also for the Christmas gift. All ladies were reminded of the Special Event evening in Wingham United Church April 23, beginning at 6 p.m. - Sunday services on May 2, andJune 17 are to be planned by the United Church Women. Mrs. Nicholson closed the meeting with a "Prayer in April" and Unit Three members served delicious salad plates. MRS. All the girls; got most of the answers right. .Since we have very little time to complete the project, we decided to read meeting six as well. Miss Alton read "The Quilting Bee" and all tried the "Mixed Bag Game". We all agreed'to try to finish our quilted projects at home. PRETTY PATCH GIRLS The fifth meeting was held March 26 at the WI Hall. Mrs. Jane Van Camp taught us how to make a quilted pic- ture frame and a cosmetic bag. March 30 was a dead- line for the books to be hand- ed in and May 9 is the achievement night. Meeting No. 6 was held April 2. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge led by Mrs. Donelda Cottrill. Nancy Moore designed our cover and everyone took part in coloring their own cover. Mr. and Mrs. Bill- Keil transfer from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kurtzville; Mrs. Ada Pearce comes from Grace United Church, Hanover; . and Mrs. Connie Dawson is formerly a member of Main St. United Church, Mitchell. • 50TH ANNIVERSARY—Eleanor and Robert McMurray of Hanover, formerly of Bluevale, were honored by friends and family Sunday on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. The McMurrays were married April 4, 1934, at Stratford and resided in and around Bluevale for many years while Mr. McMurray farmed and later when he worked at the Wingham hospital as an engineer. Couple honored at anniversary party BLUEVALE — A group of friends honored Eleanor and , Robert McMurray, former Bluevale residents, Sunday on the occasion' of their 50th wedding anniversary. The social tea was held at the hall. Mr. and Mrs. McMurray were married April 4, 1934, at Stratford. She was the former Eleanor Hayman. of Stratford and Mr. McMurray was born at Brussels. The couple lived on the second concession of Morris Town- ship for 20 years where Mr. McMurray farmed • before moving to Bluevale when he accepted a position as an engineer at the Wingham Fordwich-man injured on motorcycle A Fordwichtarea man is in Listowel -Memorial Hospital, in satisfactory condition following. a motorcycle accident April 7, on Wallace Ave. 'N., just north of MacDonald Street, reports the Listowel Police Force. Gregory A. Gibson, of RR 1, Fordwich, suffered a broken leg when the 1978 Yamaha motorcycle he was driving collided with the rear of a 1976 Dodge, driven by Adolf Bach, of the Durham area. Both vehicles were northbound on . Wallace Avenue at' the time of the collision. Property damage is estimated at $50 to Mr. Gibson's vehicle. The Bach vehicle was undamaged and Mr. Bach was not injured in the accident which occurred around 4:51 p.m. hi MR. AND MRS. .DWIGHT ADAMS were, united in mar- riage at Wingham United Church on February 25. Bren- da Jean is the daughter of Ken and Edna Foxton and Dwight Sidney is the son of Sid and Ethel Adams, all of Wingham. A reception was held at the Roya/ Canadian Legion Hall, Wingham. The couple resided at Palmerston until Mr. McMurray's retirement when they moved back to Bluevale. Presently, they reside at Hanover. In addition to many friends and well-wishers, the Mc- Murrays anniversary with _ their parents: Robert and Gordon of London and Donald of Lucknow. They have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 4i Miss Elaine Snell is guest speaker for sr. citizens, WROXETER The senior citizens of the village held a pot luck dinner in the Mall last Wednesday at 12:3Q. Following dinner, president Rev. Harry Jen- nings welcomed the guest speaker, Miss Elaine Snell of Westfield, who showed slides and gave a commentary on the trip she, 'Mrs. Hazel Griffith of Wroxeter and Roy and Madeline Burchill of Goderich took in March of 1982 to visit ;missionaries Ron and Linda Curie in Haiti. Those present enjoyed hearing about and seeing the natives and customs of this island. ' Mrs. Dorothy McGee thanked Elaine and presented her with a gift.
