The games day was .the first ever attempted in town and was devised to give children something to do on a professional development day when there is no school. /9— MRS. Rev. Jukka Saarinen performed the baptism and dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Williams after the service. Best wishes are extended to Mr. and Mrs. John McCutcheon who will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary March 10. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Campbell, Christopher, Richard and Derek of Waterloo, spent the weekend with Mr.' and Mrs. Jack 12ePpington• - Gorrie speaker wins trip to UN G0RRIE — Angela Petten of Gorrie, a Grade 11 student at F. E. Madill Secondary School, Wingham, won the Huron District Effective Speaking Contest at the Clinton Public School on Friday. This win entitles her to an all -expense -paid 11 -day trip, visiting. points of in- terest at Ottawa, United Nations in New York, Philadelphia and Washing- ton. The trip is sponsored by the Oddfellows Youth Activi- ties and United Nations' Pil- grimage for Youth. There were 10 contestants from five district high schools. Angela is the daughter of Mr.p and Mrs. Vince Petten of Gorrie. Her speaking topic was Martin Luther King. Fairies, Mrs. Howard Neable and ,Mrs. Nellie Wiltshire of Orillia, have returned from Florida's sunny south. Rev. J. Rea Grant of- ficiated for complete funeral and conalMttal service at 2:30 on Thursday, March 1, at the Currie -Walker Funeral Home, Wingham. Spring interment will take place in Wroxeter Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers, were Owen Thorpe, Rick Jacklin, Kim Sanburn, Donald Hislop, Ken Quipp and Calvin Quipp. late Charles W. Sanburn and Bessie Jane Watcher. He was born in Turnberry on July 9, 1894. His sister Laurinda and brother Warren predeceased him. Following his elementary education at Powell's School and the Zetland School, Mr. Sanburn farmed on the fifth concession of Turnberry Township. He married the former Viola Pearl Sharpin in 1928 at the Wingham United Church. Death of Mrs. S. Holloway mourned by family, friends Peggy Murphy of London visited at the home of Mrs. Gordon Edgar and Mrs. Glad Edgar last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Barry Elschner, James and Karen' of Mitchell, visited last Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Elschner. Mr. • and Mrs: Robert, Edgar have returned from a holiday at St. Lucia. Angela Doig and Michelle Coulter spent the weekend at Camp Wyoka, near Lakelet. Jill Strong and Brian Welsh of Toronto spent the weekend, with Mr. ,and Mrs. Robert Strong and also visited Mr. and Mrs. John Strong, Gorrie, andMrs. Ken Hastie at the Fordwich Nursing Horne. Phillip Gowdy of North Bay is spending the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gowdy. • Mrs. Barbara Doig. of Listowel spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Doig. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Moir, Mr. and Mrs. Norman IR away at St. Mary's Hospital, London, after a courageous battle with cancer on' Saturday, March 9, Mrs. .Albert J. Worrall of London, for- rnerly of Teeswater. The. former Alice Hughes of Teeswater, she was predeceased in 1976 by her husband who was owner and publisher of The Teeswater New for many years. She was also predeceased by one son, David. She was the , dear mother of Mrs. Borge (Elaine) Petersen of lmira and. ' Bob of ington. Also surviving are two sisters. Friends paid their respects at the MacPherson Funeral Chapel, Teeswater, after 11 o'clock Monday morn- ing until two o'clock when service was held. Mrs. Holloway, who was in her 69th year, resided at 199 Victoria St. West, in the town of Wingham. The former Reta .. Louise Kingston, she was a daughter of the. late Isaac Kingston and Mary Caughill. She was , born in St. Catharines on January 1, 1916. She married Mr. Hol- loway in St. Catharines on September 20, 1941, and he survives to feel most deeply the separation death causes. She is also survived by three children, Sylvia and Stuart Jr., at home, and Mrs. Peter (Helen) Chisholm of Lucknow. There are two grandchildren, :Haley and Philip Chisholm. Mrs. Holloway is also 'survived by two brothers, Art Kingsto n of St. Catharines and Jack Kinston of Hamilton- and three sisters, Mars Kolb of Phoenix, Arizona, Margue- rite Toye of Tonawanda, ANNOUNCEMENTS New York, and Marlene Gra- ham, St. Catharines. She was predeceased by one grand- daughter, Julie Chisholm. Mrs. Holloway . was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 180. Complete funeral and committal service was held at The Currie -Walker Funeral Home, Wingham, at four o'clock on Thursday, March 1, conducted by Rev. Paul L. Mills of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.
