The Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, which was performed successfully in 1982 and 1983 at the Stratford Festival, will 'play at the Old Vic Theatre, a British tradition for years which was purchased two years ago by Toronto's Honest Ed Mirvish and restored to its original beauty in time for the reopening shortly before Christmas. At that opening, a proud Honest Ed, shared the Royal Box with the Queen Mother, part of a royal family that has\always supported the arts. At nett week's opening of the musical, Princess Anne will occupy the Royal Box. Ontafio Premier William Davis is also schedullek to attend the performance. "The Mikado" will play for two weeks at the Old Vic, then will return to Canada for the 1983 Stratford season. Also next week, this time Tuesday night, there will be a special event in California as the Grammy Awards will be presented to top per- formers in the recording industry. As in most other music awards shows, Michael Jackson is the big name in the list of nominees, a giant 12 nominations, most of them for his "Thriller" album. Nominated for Song of the Year award were Jackson's "Beat It", "All Night Long" by Lionel Richie, "Every Breath You Take" by the Police, "Flashdance...What a Feeling!" by Ireneichael Cara and "Maniac" by Sembello. Anne Murray was nominated in the female country category with her single, - "A Little Good News", and the late Glenn Gould was nominated in the classical instrumental category,.
