After a -few years of participating in a University of Guelph media production entitled "Aging in a Rural Environment", the final production was shown at the centre last Tuesday. Dr. Anne Martin -Mat- thews of the Gerontology Re- search Centre and the fam- ily and consumer studies de- partment at the university came to the centre to present the videotape. Dr. Tony Fuller of the School of Rural Planning came to the centre as well. The day centre owns a cdpy of the production and thei`e were two showings last Wednesday and Thursday . We have the videotape at Me centre and are quite willing to give it out for groups to show. The videotape depicts what life is like for seniors in Huron County. Our .Robbie Burns Day program last Wednesday was a success and thanks are extended to Rhoda McKenzie of Lucknow for showing her slides on Scotland, to Susan McNaughton of Lucknow for speaking about her Scottish heritage and to Hazel Bateman, Stuart Henry and Anna Johnston for providing our musical entertainment. The next foot clinic ..is scheduled for Feb. 7 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Please call the centre at 357-1440 if you wish to attend. The Tuesday , and Wed- nesday groups will be bowling this week. Two films will be shown each afternoon at 1:15 p.m. each' day. One is "The Cardiovascular Club", a health -oriented film, and the other is "People of the Book", a look at the Jewish of her presentation is Feb. 29 at 1:30 p.m. This . is a reminder that anyone can make referrals to the centre. The centre will* be five years old in April and it has grown considerably, during that time. We now are serving seniors in many of the outlying areas of Huron and Bruce Counties. As the videotape mentioned earlier concludes, the population is aging in our society - and many support services such as the day centre will be a product for the future. A thought for this week regarding health and fitness is: Don't take it easy. Remember age places no barrier on your attitude toward fitness. Moderation is the key. 111:1 1' 'l 111• ltill )N1'a Flt Nl ).1:1 1()N I ti "1111: FIGHT FOR LIFE NOP I in her '7 t r— year.
