Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson who, at the age of 39, ap- parently drowned last week in California while diving off . Marina Del(Rey. The Beach. Boys have. enjoyed -fantastic Popularity this last while: their appeal only increasing after Interior Secretary James Watt said they could not perform in Washington last July because they were apt to bring "undesirables" into the city for the celebrations on the fourth. Watt, who later in the year left his job' before he was asked to leave, was crawling off into ob- scurity to find a nice doctor to remove his foot from his mouth. In the meantime, President Reagan apologetically offered the Beach Boys a favor - and Wilson's family gave hini an opportunity to deliver. The family felt that Wilson would want to be buried at sea, an honor usually afforded only to war veterans. That burial is Reagan's gift to the Beach Boys, • to compensate for Watt's big mouth. 0 (,0 In Missouri, former TV anchorwoman Christine Craft was back in court last week after a federal judge threw out a lawsuit that was decided in her favor last August. Metromedia, which owns the television station, was found guilty of fraud for telling her she was ' hired for her skills as a journalist; not for the -way she looked. The ruling in her favor awarded her $500,000, at her August trial. But • the judge ruled she was not discriminated against because of her- sex and ordered a new trial after Metromedia appealed the decision. So back in court she is, another messy trial ahead" for her and a new decision to be made. 0-0-0-0 Many happy memories returned when news came but of California that actor William Demarest had died m his 90s. All who remember Demarest think of the many fine television series that entertained us during the 50s and 60s.
