Rick Powell scored both goals for Goderich, wile Stephen Cook scored the Bears' only goal with less than a minute remaining in the first period. But that was all the Bears could muster against a tough Goderich defence. In further action last. Thursda night, the Eighth Liners d the Auburn Falcons b ttled through a scoreless first period. However, a Eighth Liners, exploded; for four goals in the t o second frame post a 4-0 shut -out triumph over the Falcons. Gordon Machan paced the winners with two goals, and one assist, while the league - leading Arnold Pease collected one goal 'and two assists: '• Ron- McMichael • scored the Eighth Liners' other goal, with Irving Pease,. picking up a single assist. Next Tuesday evening the Bandits meet the Falcons at 7:45 and the Bears will take on the Hornets at 9:25. Consolation championship on by Optimist Atoms The Wingham Optimist Atoms journeyed to Ayr Dec. 27 and came home with the consolation championship of the annual Atom tour- nament. . Wingham met a tough Tavistock team in the first game, losing 4-2. Tavistock went on to win the overall. championship at the tour- nament. - Tavistock had a well- balanced team and opened a 4-0 lead. • Thelocal squad. fought back with a goal .by. Rob MacKay early in the third Reriod, with assists from Dave McKee and Scott.
