Oarsmen scored two goals in

scored both goals for
Goderich, wile Stephen
Cook scored the Bears' only
goal with less than a minute
remaining in the first period.
But that was all the Bears
could muster against a tough
Goderich defence.

Thursda night, the Eighth
Liners d the Auburn
Falcons b ttled through a
scoreless first period.
However, a Eighth Liners,
exploded; for four goals in the

second frame post a 4-0
shut -out triumph over the
Falcons.
Gordon Machan paced the
winners with two goals, and
one assist, while the league -
leading Arnold Pease
collected one goal 'and two
assists: '• Ron- McMichael
• scored the Eighth Liners'
other goal, with Irving Pease,.
picking up a single assist.

Dirt Riders battled - to a
scpreless tie in regulation
time; But Ron Snyder set up
Kevin Warwick for the
game -winner inovertime, as
the Falcons defeated the Dirt
Riders by a score of 3-0.
Te'r'ry Powell scored the

Tonight's (Thursday's)
action sees the Falcons
facing off against the Bears
at 7:15; the Oarsmen meet
the Lords at8:55;the Eighth
Liners met Clinton at 9:45;
and the Blyth Inn Bandits
take on the Hornets at 10:35.
Next Tuesday evening the
Bandits meet the Falcons at
7:45 and the Bears will take
on the Hornets at 9:25.
Consolation championship
on by Optimist Atoms
The Wingham Optimist
Atoms journeyed to Ayr Dec.
27 and came home with the
consolation championship of
the annual Atom tour-
nament. .
Wingham met a tough
Tavistock team in the first
game, losing 4-2. Tavistock
went on to win the overall.
championship at the tour-
nament. -
Tavistock had a well-
balanced team and opened a
4-0 lead. • Thelocal squad.
fought back with a goal .by.
Rob MacKay early in the
third Reriod, with assists
from Dave McKee and Scott.
Neil. • From ° that point on
Wingham carried the play
and Rob Harrison scored an
unassisted .goal to: pull to
within two. -
However the Tavistock
goalie was able to turn aside
all further scoring chances
and hang on for the win.

of the tournament turned out
tobe a real thriller, with 'the
winning goal scored with. just
3:08 remaining in the third

period.
Scott Neil was the star of
the game, scoring four goals
and assisting on another.
Neil's game -winning goal in
the third period was a classic
solo effort and had the
spectators cheering wildly.
Other goal -scorers for
•Wingham were McKee and
Todd Chadwick, while Rob
Harrison had three assists
and Tim Currie and Rob
MacKay had an assist each:

The Atoms won the con-
solation championship.with a
fine . team effort against
Drunibo.. All three forward
lines worked hard,• showing
tenacious forechecking and
accurate passes.
• The defence had an ex-
• •cellent game, highlighted by
the goaltending of Andrew
Gibson who made several
outstanding saves and was
able to frustrate the Drumbo
attackers.
Wingham goal scorers

Although Wingham did not
play as well as expected, it
managed to outplay Wiarton
and record the victory.
Rob Harrison scored two
goals with McKee getting

Harrison was awarded the
mvp trophy for the game,
afte scoring two nifty goals
and eing a tireless worker.
