Madill boys
get.hoop play
under way
'Vie Madill Mustangs boys bas-
ketball teams began the 1995-96
season last Wednesday by travel-
ling to Goderich for games against
the Vikings.
to the senior contest, the Mus-
tangs were handed a 63-53 set-
back. Chris Patterson had 13
points for Madill with Chris Krie-
gar and Mike Nolan hitting for 10
points apiece.
The junior Mustangs were hand-
ed a 50-24 setback. The Madill of-
fence was evenly spread out
among the players.
The midget Mustangs were also
handed a setback by the host Vi-
kings.
The Mustangs take on the Cen-
tral Huron Redmen of Clinton to-
day (Wednesday, Dec. 13) begin-
ning at 2 p.m. at the F.E. Madill
gymnasium.
McKague rink
tied for third
The Murray McKague foursome
from Wingham is tied for third spot
in the Algonquin Special Reserve
Ale third event of the Grey -Bruce
Major League Curling.
The Wingham rink is tied with
the Jim Trelford foursome of the
Bluewater Club with 61 points
each.
In league play last week, the
McKague foursome was handed a
5-4 setback by the Alex McNeill
rink from the Grey Granite club.
In other third event draws, leader
Richard Fraser . of Kincardine
edged past Gary Twining of Blue -
water 8-7, Jim Trelford doubled up
Paul Molson of Bluewater 8-4, and
Fred Fleet of Port Elgin defeated
Tracy Detzler of Durham 8-3.
Murray Shannon of Hanover
scored an 8-6 decision over Jack
Thomson of Chesley to maintain
his lead at the top of the Formosa
Springs Draft main event.

ampton last week, but still holds
down first place in the Formosa
Springs Light second event.

past Al Lipskie of Bluewater 6-5,
and Roy McCarthy of Wiarton
downed Peter Kritz of Hanover, 6-

shoes competition on Saturday at the
Wingham Sportsmen Club with four
wins.

and +62. Jim Nelson of Walkerton
and Paul McKee of Wingham were
third with two wins and +61. Don
Frook of Elmwood and Hank Carter
of Wingham were fourth with two
wins and +44. Buster Hilker and
Wayne littley of Elmira were fifth
with no wins and +108.

Madill wrestlers earn four medals
- wrestlers captured four
medals at a wrestling competition
held in Waterford on Friday.
A total of 15 Madill wrestlers
took part in the one -day event.
The Madill wrestlers earned two
gold and two bronze, and also have
five fifth place finishes.
Gold medals were pinned down
by Kendra Lieshman and Kristy
Ireland. Winning bronze medals
were Karen Bakker and Mike
King.
Fifth place finishes were taken
by Erin. Cook, Jordana Walsh, Phil
Heuishler, Dave Morley, and Con-
rad Wernham.
The wrestling team travels to
Cambridge on Friday for another
mat competition.
