WOOD The Advance -Times Wingham and District Hospital Chief Executive Officer Lloyd Koch has informed town council of his concern regarding the reduction in snow plow service In a letter received by council last week, Koch said the reduction in service may affect the ambu- lance service's ability. to reach • emergency situations in a timely manner. "While our drivers have not yet reported any change in conditions, I would appreciate being advised of any decreased level of service so we can plan accordingly," he said in his letter. "(Recently) we institut- ed paramedic services on all of our vehicles...This is a major improve- ment in service for the area, and we would not like to see these gains offset by deteriorated road condi- tions." Council,, however, has little con- trol over the road system beyond the town limits. In answering to comments in the letter, Town of Wingham Reeve Bruce Machan (who just finished his term as County Warden) said the county has already agreed to reduce snow plow service. But, he said, the plows for the county road system will go out on the road to assist emergency vehicles. Machan said he expected similar co-operation from the town works department in the same conditions. Snow plowing was .reduced at the county level in order. to control budget eifpenSe id light `of the"sig- nificant reduction in transfer pay- ments from the province. Water system changing hands The Belgrave Community Water System and the McCrae Street Wa- ter System will soon be owned and operated by the Township of Mor- ris. Acting approval from the Minis- try of the Environment and Energy (MOEE), .the trustees of the two water systems have given their ap- proval to the township to proceed in the process to assume the owner- . ship and operation of the wells. More information is still forth coming from MOEE. Morris Township council passed By-law 64-1995 which would transfer part of Plan 100 (Lorne Street at the edge of Brussels) to Jean McNeil. The by-law was re- quired to correct title. Council approved a lottery li- cence for the Wingham Golf and Curling Club to hold a cash calen- dar draw. Council also received the report from Maitland Engineering Servic- es regarding the Bowes Drain. The report will be discussed dur- ing a public meeting at the regular meeting of council on Dec. 19. wrong dept. Paul Josling attended last Tues- day's meeting of Morris Township council. Although he had no applications as the township's chief building of- ficial, council did discuss with him fire calls in the Blyth area and a re- sponse from the Brussels depart- ment that should have called to Blyth. Council made a motion that they would not pay a $900 bill for a fire call from the Village of Brussels, because it should have been cov- ered under Mutual Aid. In an effort to alleviate the prob- lem, council will be sending a letter to all township residents, in early January, along with a map, indicat- ing which fire department they call in the case of a fire. Council had no comment on the Huron County Mutual Aid/Fire Co- ordinator report. We're Closing The Doors!
