Ruth Galbraith of Brussels won the queen -sized sampler quilt. Lor- raine Arnold of Lucknow won the hand -quilted pillow and Joan Long of Huntsville, the quilted bag. The guild had a great response from members to bring in hand- made doll blankets and Christmas stockings for the Salvation Army... A representative of the Salvation Army is to attend the next meeting at Lucknow on Dec. 6 for the pres- entation. Doris Bushell and Georgeina Crothers, both of Wingham, gave an interesting presentation of their quilting experiences. Each dis- played some beautiful quilts and wall hangings from past to present. Mona Tunney demonstrated the technique for drafting and creating an "abstract star" quilt block, which THE WlA IL4M MVMICFT!MES is a nice simple pattern. Members suggested that everyone make up a 12 -inch block and bring it to the next meeting so a quilt top can be made. In January, the guild will be working on quilts which are to be donated to fire victims. Members are reminded that the next meeting will be a potluck luncheon and small gift exchange. The guild wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year of quilting. McFARLAN--Doug and Sherry would like to announce the safe ar- rival of their daughter, Laura Syd- ney, born Nov. 9 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton and weighing 5 lbs., 6 oz. Proud first-time grand- parents are Elmer and Muriel McFarlane of Wingham and she is a second grandchild for Bruce and Marg Hunter of Cambridge. Laura Sydney also has great- grandparents, uncles and aunts.
